Hood design-Week 2

HOOD DESIGN:

WHAT IS HOOD?

A car hood also referred to as a bonnet in some other countries is the hinged cover that rests over the engine of a front-engine vehicle.

  • the hood is considered as another door in a vehicle as it considers as the inner and outer panel
  • the inner panel provides strength while the outer function is the metal cover.
  • design requirements for the hood.
  • function requirements
  • important regulation
  • hood balance and the function.
  • hood hinge and its function.
  • gaps and flushness requirements
  • joining operation followed:
  • humming and spot welding and riveting.

Hood head zone for lock striker:

  • Marketability person to confirm the head zone for lock striker support the hood and support rod accessibility, design the hood according to Japanese head zone criteria

The purpose of the hood:

  • A car hood also referred to as a bonnet in some other countries is the hinged cover that rests over the engine of a front-engine vehicle. Its purpose is to provide access to the engine for repair and maintenance. ... Hoods sometimes also contain a hood scoop, wiper jets, power bulge, and/or hood.

Gas Stay:

  • the gas supports the engine hood of the vehicle in its open position utilizing an actuator that is active by the gas.

Support rod:

  • the rod is used the hold the hood of the vehicle.

what is reinforcement?

  • Hood reinforcement structure as provides to reduce impact in collisions to the passenger. when latch and striker are attached to the panel, the strength reduces in that area
  • reinforcement is added.

Latch:

  • latch system ensures that the hood stays locked, therefore protecting the engine and the many other parts that reside within the hood of the car. the hood should not swing open at once, and therefore, a safety hook must be present to catch the unlocked hood and keep it closed

LATCH FIGER.

HINGE:

  • Simultaneously, a mechanism is provided a latch of the car door. Since the co-axial cylinders are easily rotated concerning one another, the new hinge design is done in a cylindrical shape.

Stiffener pad:

  • Stiffener pad is Kinde of material.
  • it placed between the inner and outer panel to increase the strength and reduce the vibration,
  • Mastic point in the hood panel:
  • Mastic points are areas where the inner hood panel is joined with the outer panel hem using mastic glue. This mastic glue keeps the inner panel stuck to the outer panel. The inner panel and outer panel are joined using mastic which is applied on the hem of the outer panel and edge of the inner panel.

Hemming:

  • Hemming is the process in which the edges are rolled flush to themselves using the rollers, while joining the edges of the two materials, the hemming process warps the edges of outer and inner to hold tightly .hemming can stiffer the hood border and when adequately sealed .protect against corrosion.

Front relief:

rear relief:

Shock flow :

Emboss were designed to dissipate the force outside the structure and towards the fringes.

Position of the sticker:

  • point is created by using the point on the curve by using it the circle is made
  • the line is created tangent to the circle and intersect them
  • emboss is created.
  • hinge assemble:
  • hinge assemble cerate the axis line
  • by using the curve point.
  • they have to move similarly,

  • move to the opposite side by move component.
  • hinges as near to the chases.
  • The final body of the hood assembly.

Assembly navigator:

Constraint navigator :

Part navigator.

similarly, another part navigator will each part as support part navigator

use assembles for assembling the parts.

Make sure parts are in one folder:

Part is designed by using the NX cad.
