Hood Design Week 2 -Challlenge 1
Report on Hood Design Assembly
In this Challenge I worked on Hood Design Assembly, Firstly I had to create Inner Panel of the hood from given data, So I trimmed half of the hood from Centre Datum Plane
Then Create Tooling Axis, after Creating Tooling Axis then according to Master Section I had to Create Flanges, So the offset value from Outer Panel is 1.7 given in Master Section, After that created First Flange Using Offset IN Face Command value of 20 with Radius value of 30 for curves, And then Trim it using Trim Sheet Command and keep the required portion then l get First Flange.
For the 2nd Flange again goes with the Master Section and take the offset value of 4, then for curves repeat the command and goes with value according to given Master Section Values are 22 and 35 with Radius Value of 30, then trim it and keep the required portion then l get the Second Flange.
For the Third Flange again goes with the Master Section and take the offset value of 25, then for curves goes with according to Master Section Values of 50 with Radius Value of 30, then trim it and keep the required portion then l get the Third Flange.
After Creating all Flanges l use Through Curve to Create Surface between Flanges after creating Surface to Join all Flanges I give Face Blend Value given in Master Section, (Value are R6,R6,R10,R15).
After Giving Blends Flanges are joined together and after that I had to Create Emboss, for the Emboss 1, I create a fully Constrained Sketch and then Project the sketch on surface by using Project Curve Command, Then used the Command Emboss and give the value of Distance 10 and Angle 10. After Completing Flange1 then Rest three Flanges are created with fully constrained Sketch individually and then projected on the surface with a distance value of 8.5 and angle is 12 deg. So the Total Depth of the Embosses from the Surface is 18.5,(for effective clearence because we need 5mm for Mastics clearence), and the Vector Direction is Tooling Axis for the Emboss.
After Completing the Emboss I gave blend for the Edge of the Embosses1 is R6, and for the Remaining Smaller emboss edgeblend value is R3.
After Creating Flanges And Embosses I need to provide cutout in Smaller Embosses in order to Ensure the Pedistarian Safety , For providing the Cutouts I created Fully Constrained Sketch Individually as per require for all the embosses where Cutouts Is Required, then Project the Curve at surface and them Trimmed it ,After providing Cutouts then I give blend to the edges with a Radius Value of R3.
After Completing Embosses and Cutout then we had to Fix the Hinge for Fixing the Hinge I had to provided a Hinge Mount with proper fully Constrained sketch, then create emboss after project on the surface with a distance of 4 and angle is 10, and the Vector is Tooling Axis.I had to ensure that Hinge Mount should be Flat ,so I had to create One Datum Plane, so in the End Cap I had to select Datum Plane Instead of Emboss Faces. and the provide a edgeblend with a Value of R3.
After Completing Hinge Mount then I had to mirror the Other half of the Inner panel with Centre Datum Plan with Mirror Geometry, After Mirroring I had to sew both side.
After sewing then I had to give proper Constrain to fix the hinge at the hinge mount after fixing hinge I had to create hinge Axis for the Striker Mount, and create a Datum Plane at the Centre of both hinge.
Also Create a line at the given Striker and Create a Datum Plane at the centre of curve and create a proper Defined sketch at hinge Axis Datum Plane for the Trajectory of Hood and the Sketch should Tangential to the Trajectory, After Completing the Sketch given proper constrain to the Striker and then Create a Striker Mount afterthat provide a Edge blend with a value of R3. Now Almost Complete the Work of inner panel.
Now I have to Thicken the Inner Panel the value is given in Master Section which is 0.75, So I provide Thickness And give Colours to the thickend part.now I have Completed Inner Panel.
After Completing Inner Panel I need to work on Outer Panel Firstly I Trimmed Hood outer panel with Centre Datum Plane and the took the offset surface with a value of 2.65. As per Master Section then Trim it and kept required Portion then given law extension on curve using offset in face, and then given face blend to get a desired result.
And After that to provide Hemming created a curve using curve on Surface Command ,and then Trim it and kept the required portion.
After Hemming I Mirrored the other Half of the Hood Outer Panel With Centre Datum Plane and then Sew it.
After completing that Now I need to Provide Thickness which is 0.75 and provide colour aswell.
After Completing Inner and Outer Panel I go to Clip and edit Section view and check it whether it is according to given master section or not and if it had some errors then I fix it.
And now that's the Complete report of Hood design Assembly and complete Image.
