FENDER DESIGN
AIM:
To design a Front Fender of a car by following the given Master Section as per the design considerations of OEM.
Introduction:
The term "Fender" in the Context of vehicles generally refers to a protective and decorative component that covers and surround the wheels. Fenders are typically located over the wheel arches of a vehicles.they cover the upperportion of the wheel and extend over the sides to shield the surrounding area the primary purpose of Fenders is to provide protection to the Vehicle and its occupants. They help prevent Dirt, Muds, Rocks, and other Debris from being thrown into the air by the rotating wheels. It not only protect the Vehicle's body but also contributes to the safety of other road users.
Fenders can be constructed from various material including Steel, Aluminium, Plastic, or Fibreglass. The Choice of material depends on the factors such as Vehicles type, Design consideration, and Manufacturing requirements.
Inshort Fender is a protective and often stylized components located over the wheel Arches of a Vehicles. It serves practical purpose such as debris protection and safety, while also contributing to the vehicle's visual appeal.
Types of Fender:
Full Bumper type: These types of Fender were used in earlier model of vehicles. they contribute to the major increment of the Steel weight by just covering the front Headlight with respect to the Bumper region. the problem associated with this kind of Fender is there is a lot of wastage in the blank and every inch of material is a cost to the Industry.
Half Bumper Type: These Fender are mainly used for serving the purpose of cost-cutting and reducing enough proportions of the steel weight resulting in the reduction of the weight of vehicles slightly. They can be economically manufactured ,i.e. by slightly increasing the blank size, we can produce two Fender at a time.
Working on Fender Design:
In this Challenge Class A surface is given by Skill Lync ,
Then I need to ensure that whether any Improvement is required or not in this surface, after finding a minor error in this surface I improved it,and then proceed Further.
After Improving Class A ,next Step is to create mountings, for creating mounting firstly I create a Curve with a offset of 5mm with parallel curve, and then create points where I need to create mounting and connect the points with connect curve, After Creating all mount region then split the remaining part.
Here are 6 region of Mounting in this Fender ,they are
Drip Mounting
Pillar Mounting
Sill Mounting
Bumper Mounting
Baffle Mounting
Baffle Splash
Drip Mounting Design:
For creating drip mounting, Master Section is given, So I follow Master Section and used dimensions according to master Section. And create embosses where required and hole for Fastening. The size of hole is 5mm and give minimum 5 mm clearence from each end.
Pillar Mounting Design:
In Pillar mounting and other mounting Master Section is not given so I need to put my own design with guidance of my mentor, create a pillar mounting and rest mounting with design rules.
Sill Mounting Design:
Bumper Mounting:
Baffle Mounting:
Final Step
After Completing all the mountings I need to give thickness of 0.75mm to the Fender .

Conclusion
In This Challenge I learned about the Feature and the purpose of Fender in Details, and create it by using CatiaV5 Software.
THANKYOU
Notes* In this Challenge I used CatiaV5 Software instead of NXcad because In NX lots of glitches and error is popping, so I decided to go with CatiaV5.
