Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
from the above input we have to calculate the wheel arch gap between the wheel and the fender to do that firstly we have created a sketch which is normal to the wheel outer part then we have made the lines according to the point on which we have to measure the arc and then we have also created the line parallel to the horizontal axis then we made the projection curve. the point is projected on the line and we project the point on fender body then we measure the wheel arch gap between the given projected point and the point on datum plane
the vertical line is called SA 30 degree more than vertical line is SB the SC line is 50 degree less than SA
SE line is ploted on the point which is 150mm above from x axis on fender arch SD line is biasecting linr to the SC andd SE
the distance is just bellow
SECTION CLEARANCE RESULT
SA 9.95 FAIL
SB 10 PASS
SC -0.114 FAIL
SD -2.89 FAIL
SE - 5.99 FAIL
we have also measure the gap between between the wheel arch and the wheel
SECTION GAP
SA 29.98
SB 46.13
SC 33.93
SE 47.63
conclusion
From the above results obtained, we can conclude that the given fender doesn't pass the European Standards for Wheel Arch area.
With this result, the styling team is required to modify the surface of the fender such that the clearance "L" at sections SC, SD and SE is greater than 10 mm by increasing the curvature at those sections towards the outside.
