Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

FENDER DESIGN-WHEEL ARCH :

AIM :To given fender design-wheel arch to calculate the wheel arch gap

between the wheel and fender,as per the European standard to check

the wheel passes on it.

Fender design-wheel arch : Wheel arch is semi-circular part of fender positioned

above the wheel of the vechile. The design wheel arch fender is shields wheels

and protects passengers both compartments of padestrains from of the protection

of water, mud and stones.Wheel arch is designed to protect tyres and BIW from the

debries. Wheel arch is developed different countries to standards on road conditions.

In this challenge European standards to follow wheel arch design gap between the wheel and fender.

In European standards to gap between wheel and fender is greater than 10mm, is follows the European

standards. If the Wheel arch is less than 10mm , it fails the european standards.

Wheel arch gap calculation steps are following :

1.Plane to draw on wheel a shown in figure.

2.Draw the vertical line y axis and horizontal line x axis at the centre of the wheel.

3. Left side is 30 degree to draw line and right side is 50 degree to draw line shown in fig.

4. Section E line draw to 150mm above to x axis.

5. Section D line is drawn between the C and E equal distance.

6. Name the section to text command, shown the figure.

7. Calcualte the gap of SA,SB,SC,SD and SE to use measure distance command.

Wheel arch gap value in Section-D shown fig :

Wheel arch gap value in Section-E shown fig :

European standards are to fail. Because of

SB-SB is to >10mm.

SA-SA is to <10mm.

SC-SC is to <10mm.

SD-SD is to <10mm.

SE-SE is to <10mm.

Only the Section B is pass , others section are fail to the European standards .
