Fender Design Challenge
FENDER :- Fender is the american english term for the part of an automobile ,motorcycle,or other vechile body that frames a wheel well .it is a part that is in contact with the different parts of the vechilelike the A-pillar .sill mount, drip mount, body mount, bumper mount.typically fenders are rigid and house the wheels inner body at the front and back side of the vechile.

fender play a major role in pedestrain safety while a car is in motion .when it is in motion the wheel carryover the small stones mud particles and throw away which may harm the pedestrain .so while designing these cosideration are to be taken.
fender types-
1. Full bumper
these are the fenders that cover the entire wheel of a vechile and mainly it is used in earlier manufacturing as shown in the figure.

2.Half bumper
this fender is also the same as the above but with the slight modefications by putting the cost and weight into consideration is change were implemented and made the fender good.

DESIGN CONIDERATIONS:
- Asper the master section provided the location of drip should be at 150mm from the bumper side and the gap of 200mm from the A-pillar.
- allow the draft which should be manufactured without an error .
- the clearance distance should be maintained between the hood and base drip area about 200mm when the hood is at an open angle.
- clearance should be provide for the nutting tool to assemble the fender with the body of the car.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS :-
- As per the design plan for tool to make ready the product for assembly.
- Snipping or blanking operation should be done for talking the piece of a sheet from the long rolled.
- bending and restriking are performed to get the desired shape.
- trimming is performed to trim the unwanted section from the working sheet .
- piercing should be performed to make the required hole on the sheet.
- embosses are created by doing the deep drawing by considering the good draft angle.
- burring process is clearing the burr and edges like sharp corner after operation.
MOUNTINGS OF FENDER:
- A-Pillar mount
- Drip mount
- Bumper mount
- Sill mount
- Body mount
- Splash cover mount
DESIGN PROCEDURE:
DRIP AREA - It is the most important mount of fender which is attached to the car body and near the engine compartment .this is designed by following such as the distance b/w the fender and engine room ,clearance length b/w the hood and base area of the drip .

BUMPER MOUNT :-
A structure attached to front and rear side to absorb impact in collision thereby reducing maintenance cost.this are designed in such a way that they mitigiate injury to pedestrain legs throuh the use of soft material .

Baffale mount:-
a splash protector mounting is introduced on top of wheel to restrict debris into engine compartment ,to mount this protector baffle mount are used having holes on it.

A-Pilaar Mount :-
there are three pillar a car body has generally ,that are A,B,C .A pillar is on front side which hold wind screen on either side .B pillar are located at mid of body ;doors of back passanger compartment are mounted on it .C pillar are located on rear side of body where it support rear door and window .A-pillar mount in it design we own creativity .

SILL Mount:-
sill mount connect at bottom of car body frame .it is generally at bottom of front doors and units with floor.

After compete the all operation now ready to apply thickness of 0.75mm to sheet body.
