AUTOMOBILE FRONT FENDER DESIGNING
OBJECTIVE: To design a front fender from the given skin data and the master section and explain about Fender Design and its mounting points.
Master Section:
This is the provided Master Section for the Front Fender design
Design Methodology
Images of the Final Model:
Description about Fender
Fender:
It houses the wheel of automobile and provides safety against sand, stones and other impurities from the roads for the wheels as well as the car body. It also plays an important role for passenger’s protection. Mostly they are categorized as Full bumper type and Half Bumper type. Fender can also differ according to style requirement of the vehicle.

Mountings of Fender:
Fender has 5 Most Important mounting attachments to it. They are as follows:
a) A Pillar
b) Body
c) Sill
d) Cowl
e) Drip
Drip Area:
It is basically the joining between fender and engine compartment. The Design of the drip area is done in such a way that It provides sufficient space for the motor mounting at the rear end (200 mm) and Head lamp area in the front end (minimum 150 mm). Also the drip area length should be at 3 degree angle with
the fender so as to provide easy access for the tools and also to hide the fasteners thus not compromising with the looks. Each and every dimension of drip area is important for various other aspects of safety and build of car
Baffle Area:
Baffle is mounted so as reduce noises and vibrations and improvements in N.V.H (Noise Vibration and Harness). Fig 6 shows the mounting area provided for baffle in the fender.
Other Mountings shown in Image below:
Conclusion:
Thus we designed the fender following the Master Section constrains and provided the details regarding it.
