Challenge

Week 11 - Final project

AIM :
AIM is to create the CAD model with given class A surface , nominal thickness and attachment strategy.

OBJECTIVE:
To create the CAD model considering with attachment strategy, nominal thickness and class A surface.
Create thickened part using master section for reference.
Create the mounting features as per design guidelines in the industry and with master sections.
And to create draft analysis and tooling axis.
INTRODUCTION:
10 stages of product life cycle in the automotive industry are
1.
Concept sketch
2.
Styling class A
3.
Feasibility check
4.
Concept validation
5.
New product design
6.
Product development
7.
Proto build
8.
Design validation
9.
Pilot production
10.
Mass production
NEW PRODUCT DESIGN
: This is the stage where the major work of product design, by making inputs from the concept sketch tvalidate the design it will go to design team where they will use the design tools. Here, they design and develop total 3D and 2Ddesign and drawings.
Initially download the given input as shown in the below image.
Above you can see class A surface of door trim panel with various parts like arm rest, map pocket, top substrate, lower substrateand door release handle.
Here we have to mainly work on lower substrate, map pocket and arm rest.
All the parts are added with newly developed attachments features like dog house , ribs , push pins and heat stakes.
Below you can see the thickened surfaces of door trim panel and designed attachments

LOWER SUBSTRATE is the main part which has more attachments like dog house , push pins, heat stakes and ribs.Map pocket is the part where we can store bottles and other utensils.

Arm rest is the part which we can rest our hands.
All the surfaces shown above are thickened and attachments are added.
DRAFT ANALYSIS AND TOOLING AXIS
.
Draft analysis which are more than 3 degrees are shown in green , 0 to 3 are in blue, and 0 and below are red in colour.

Draft analysis of arm rest in the below image with 3 deg draft of both class A and class C surface.

Draft analysis of Lower substrate with 2.8 degrees
Lower substrate C surface and surfaces which are in blue are shown below , which are less than 2.8 deg.
