AIM: Creating the Door Arm Rest component through the given Class-A surface of 2.5 mm thickness with the tooling axis meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end performing the Draft analysis on the model.
PROCEDURE REQUIRED DRAFT ANALYSIS:
STEP 1: Ensure there is no gap between the two neighbouring surfaces.
Operations Boundary definition>select component
STEP 2: Tooling Axis: Tooling axis is the direction in which mold or core and cavity is opened.
We have to check all possible tooling directions in all the three axes. When we are deciding the tooling axis we have to make sure that all the faces should be visible to that tooling axis, no face should be hidden.
For this component the Z axis will be the best tooling axis as we can see all the faces of the component and can be cleared in the x and y axis direction.
STEP 3: To make tolling axis for this model we have to follow following steps
• Create a point on the curve of the circular portion.
PROCEDURE FOR DESIGN:
STEP 1: Extracting Surfaces from base of door arm rest.
Schedule a counselling session
. Extract the surface
. Untrim that extracted surface
• Trimming surface.
Offset it inside to 2.5 mm
Extracting Surfaces from the first half surface of door arm rest.
Extracting Surfaces from the second half surface of door arm rest.
• Trimming all three B surfaces.
Giving outward and inward fillet radios, where both half bodies are joining
Giving outward and inward fillet radios, where both half bodies are joining
STEP 9: Extracting Sweeps from all the boundaries of A surfaces.
• Multiple extracting edges of A surfaces.
Smoothing the curve of multiple extracted lines.
• Sweeping smooth curve with sweep with direction panel.
• Extrapolating corner of the edges.
Trimming it in desired output.
Joining all sweeps together.
Join the final trim (sweeped surfaces) and A surface.
We can see the thicken C surface after trimming as below
Switch to Part Design Workbench, Define Part body to make Door Arm Rest C Surface into a solid component by surface panel.

Fender Design Challenge
Introduction: A fender is the curved portion of the car's body that sits over and houses the wheels. The purpose of a fender is pretty simple. Its purpose is to keep mud, rocks, and other road debris from being thrown around by the tires. In other words, the fender is a housing for the wheels that keeps road debris contained.…

Section Modulus calculation and optimization
OBJECTIVE: To increase the Section Modulus of the hood by necessary changes using NX cad. SECTION MODULUS: It is termed as the ratio of the second moment of area and distance from N.A (Neutral axis) to the extreme fiber. Also, it is the measure of the strength of the given member. The stress in the outermost section of…
