Design of backdoor
AIM
Using the provided styling surface to come up with a back door design, using appropriate design methodologies, and providing the necessary reinforcements and embosses
BACK DOOR COMPONENTS

- For the proper back door we need outer panel for the asthetic look for the car
- Then the inner pannel is used to give strength to the back and hiding the wire, tail light and carring some components like viper motor, hinge and gas stay
- The reinforcement is strengthen the inner pannel
MANUFACTURING PROCESS

-
As we know that backdoor is a BIW component that is basically manufactured using a metal forming process.
-
There are different types of metal forming processes that are used for manufacturing automotive parts they are bending, forming, stamping, forging, extruding, etc. From which the stamping is the methodology used to produce the door panels, basically, a die and punch are used in a press machine to stamped out the complete door panel in a single or multiple presses.
-
This method is used because it does not require separate tools to manufacture the component also it is less time consuming and requires less material for the part which is to be produced with precision and accuracy.
JOINING PROCESSS

- The inner panel and outer panel is joining together by hemming, mastics and spot welding
- For asthetic look we can go with the hemming and mastics
DESIGNING THE BACK DOOR

OUTER PANEL

- The outer panel is created with hemming flange to joining inner panel
INNER PANEL

- The inner panel is created with requiered emboss and cut outs
- And the flanges are created for joining the outer panel by spot welding and mastics
- The embosses are created for mounting the hinge, gastay, latch and striker, and viper motor
REINFORCEMENTS

- The reinforcement is created for strengthening purpose
- Hinge,gastay,vipermotor,latch reinforcement
TRAJECTORY

- The trajectory is created for lactch and striker
CORNER RELIEF

- Corner relief is given for not over lapping
HEMMING PROCESS

- 0.2 MM gap is provided in between the inner and outer panel for hemming process
