Q1.
Residence Plan:
Sketch the layout of a residence as shown in the Figure 1. Consider all dimensions as reference to sketch the unit plan. Also the text in the layout are only for reference. Assume the missing dimensions. Also, refer the schedule for size of the doors.

AIM-1:-
To draw the given residential plan in autocad as specified.
INTRODUCTION:
The main objective of these challenge is get utmost knownledge on using different layers. That is layers is a concept that allows to group drawn geometry in distinct and seperate categories according to similar feactures or a common theme. This allows to exercise control over your drawing by, among other things, applying properties to the layers, such as assigning colors and linetypes.
Layers can also manipulate each individual layer, making it visible or invisible for clarity, as well as being to lock them to prevent editing. In AutoCAD there can be any number of layers, with all of them holding their respective data and combining into complete design.
In the process of creating the residential plan, some commands are used those are mentioned below as shown:
- Units
- Limits or Limmax
- Zoom
- Xline (XL-V or XL-H)
- Offset
- Fillet
- Chamfer
- Trim
- Extend
- Line
- Dimlinear
- Dimstyle
- Text
- Layer
- Line weight
- Layon
- Layoff.
PROCEDURE:
- Create a AutoCAD file with imperial setting.
- Set units to "Engineering", the dimensions to "Feet" and precision to 0'-0.0"
- Set the limits with limax command, from the residential plan observe the dimension and set the value that is 35'-0.0",50'-0.0".
- Set the Zoom-All
- Draw the construction lines by using the line command "XL-V" for vertical and "XL-H" for horizontal.
- Trim the extra unwanted lines.
- Step by step process is illustrated below as shown
To draw the #Bed1 as shown in figure:
- Take a offset of 9" by using the "O" command - give the offset distance in command as 9".
- Then take the offset of 11'-7.5" to the +x direction and offset of 12' to the -y direction. So, that the room is created.
- Again, give offset to the both lines with 4.5". So, that the internal wall thickness is created.
- Using trim command trim the unwanted lines to form the #Bed1.
To draw the #Bed2 as shown in figure:
- Take the offset of 11'-6.0" to the +x direction and offset of 9'' in the same direction.
- Extend the line of 12' from bed1 towards the line. Command "Ex" select the line to where it should be extended.
- Again take offset of 4.5" on either side. So, that the internal wall thickness is created.
- So, that the room is created.
- Using trim command trim the unwanted lines to form the #Bed3.

To draw Toilet#1 as shown in figure:
- Take offset of 4'-6" downwards then also offset 4.5" wall.
- From that line offset 8'-3" towards +x direction and offset the wall of 4'-5" also
- Trim off the unwanted lines.
To draw Toilet#2 as shown in figure:
- Extend the wall thickness of bed#2 to the 4'-6".
- Offset a distance of 8'-1.5" towards -x direction and also 4'-5" wall thickness.
- Trim off the unwanted lines.

To draw Dining and living room as shown in figure:
- Give offset of 11" from the wall of toilet and also the wall of 9".
- Extend the left wall towards the 11" line and 9" line.
- Use fillet to join this line and the wall of toilet#2.
- Give an offset of 8'-7.5" to understand the parition between the dinning and living.
- Trim off all wall thickness of dinning and offset it as 4.5".
To draw the Kitchen and its slab as shown in figure:
- Give offset from the dinning wall of 6'-8" and give an offset of 9" for wall thickness.
- Extend the left wall towards this line.
- Give an offset of 11" towards +x direction and offset the wall thickness as 9".
- Offset a distance of 2' to make the kitchen slab.

To draw the Parking and Staircase as shown in figure:
- Draw offset of 12'-6" to draw the parking, then give offset of 9" towards inside.
- Give offset 13'-9.5" from the living wall towards downwards.
- Extend outer wall of kitchen, so that the staircase room is definmed.
- The dimensions to draw the staircase is Thread-1' and Riser:6"
- Give a wall thickness if 9" for staircase room.
- Divide the staircase room by giving offset of 3' from the front wall thickness.
- Give an offset of 1.96" to show the handrail (Assume, 5cm is usually given)
- Draw offset of 1' - thread to draw the stairs in plan view.
- Draw offset as there are risers for 8 steps.
- Trim of the lines between the handrails and give the other side as dotted lines. That is it indicated the upward stairs, not visible when viewing ground floor plan.
- For that select the lines and change the line type to ISO dash.
- Mark the directions of Stairs.

To draw the Doors as shown in figure:
- Trim all the door openings with their respective width D1 - 3', D2 - 2'-6", D3 - 3'-3".
- For open kitchen, trim the line retaining a distance of 6'-4" from right side of kitchen.
- Door doors creating a hinge of 0.5" from the midpoint of both the walls, then draw a circle with one point on the midpoint of one hinge and other the midpoint of another hinge.
To draw the Windows as shown in figure:
- For living, take an offset of 1'-3", this is where the window starts (as its given)
- Using line commnad draw a line of 6' from the center of offset line inside the wall thickness.
- Draw windows whereever necessary: from middle portion of a wall draw a line, from the midpoint of that line give the distance i.e., the width of the window, then join the other side (W1-6', W2-4', V-2').
- Trim all the unwanted lines and fillet the corners with fillet radius zero. Command "F" select the line on after the other. In general fillet radius is zero by default.

To draw cupboards and set the layers:
- Draw the cupboard by creating a rectangle command "REC" specify base point-click on dimension-give dimension as 5'x2'.
- Copy the rectangle to another bedroom also.
- To Place each layer in each component
- From layer property-create new layer-create 8 layers each for wall, door, window, stairs, kitchen slab and cupboard.
- Name the each layer as wall, door, window, stairs, kitchen slab, dimensions, text and cupboard and give different colours, so that it can be identified seperately.
- Select the objects and place it in respective layers.

RESULT:
The given sketch is plotted in autocad and shown below.

Q2.
Sketch the seating plan for an outdoor canopy. Assume the dimensions for the seating. Also, consider
the dimensions in mm.

AIM-2:
To draw the seating plan for an outdoor canopy.
COMMANDS USED:
- Circle
- Offset
- Fillet
- Extend
- Trim
PROCEDURE:
- Create a AutoCAD file with Metric setting.
- Set units to "Decimal", the dimensions to "Millimeter" and precision to 0.00
- Set the limits with limax command, from the residential plan observe the dimension and set the value that is 4000, 4000.
- Set the Zoom-All
- Step by step process is illustrated below as shown
To draw circles:
- Draw the circle with a command "C" select a center point and give the radius as 1398mm.
- Draw another circle with same center with radius 452mm.
- Draw an offset of 200mm from the inner circle to determine the position of chairs,
- Draw lines along the diameter of the bigger circle.

To draw chairs:
- Draw a rectangle with command "REC" and specify the dimensions as 400mm and 200mm.
- Draw an arc with start, center and end method with the end points and center of the side (400mm) of rectangle.
- Draw another rectangle of 55mm * 100mm for the handle of the chair. That is draw the rectangle with the command "REC" and select the base point and click on dimension and give as 55mm and 100mm.
- Copy it on the other side so that both handles are formed.
- Fillet the corner of rectangle by 50mm that is (400*200) one. To draw the offset select the command "O"- give the offset distance as 50mm and select the two lines and trim off the unwanted lines.
- Move the chair and place it such a way that it touches the offset 200mm circle. To move the object use the command "M"-Select the base point and move it.
- Mirror the chair to the opposite side. The command used to mirror the chair is "MI" and select the base point and draw the reference line where we need to mirror.
- Rotate the chair and move it so that the chair in left side is created. To rotate the chair the command used is "RO" and select the base point and rotate to desired angle.
- Again, mirror the chair so as to create chair in right side.
- Trim/Delete the unwanted lines and offset the circles.
RESULT:
The given sketch is plotted in autocad and shown below.
