Benchmarking
Benchmarking is a process in which we can measure our company's success against other simillar companies to discover if there is a gap in performance that can be managed by improving our performance. In automobile industry benchmarking is a structured comparison between similar products,services or processes on some dimensions of performance.
For example:
We can compare performance of different vehicles. Presales and After sales services can also be compared among different companies. Ease of handling, low cost of maintenance etc. can be compared in benchmarking.
Types of Benchmarking:
There are four main types of benchmarking: internal, external, performance, and practice.
1. Performance benchmarking involves gathering and comparing quantitative data (i.e., measures or key performance indicators). Performance benchmarking is usually the first step organizations take to identify performance gaps.
2. Practice benchmarking involves gathering and comparing qualitative information about how an activity is conducted through people, processes, and technology.
3. Internal benchmarking compares metrics (performance benchmarking) and/or practices (practice benchmarking) from different units, product lines, departments, programs, geographies, etc., within the organization.
4. External benchmarking compares metrics and/or practices of one organization to one or many others.
Benchmarking will point out what changes will make the most difference, but it’s up to you to actually put them in place.

As Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars then Maruti Suzuki Ertiga LXi is the best for him. No doubt Tata Nexon is the safest compact SUV in the range but Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is safer, Comfortable and also big car in that range.
So, I will recommend him to buy Maruti Suzuki Ertiga LXi.
