Theory:-

What is Benchmarking ?

  • Benchmarking is defined as the process of measuring products, services, and processes against those of organizations known to be leaders in one or more aspects of their operations.

Why it is Important in Automotive Industry?

  • A specific, distinctive vehicle attribute branding is essential to make cars unique and competitive.
  • As a first step on the way, vehicle manufacturers have to benchmark their vehicles in the competitive environment in order to understand and to strengthen or improve the potential of their vehicles.

There are 4 steps of Benchmarking :-

  • Planning
  • Analysis
  • Integration
  • Action

Planning :-

  • Being the initial phase, this is a most important phase. Any mistakes, errors or incompleteness in this phase generally affects the rest of the phases.
  • Sufficient time and attention has to be devoted during the phase to ensure that planning becomes as error-free as possible, and hence makes the rest of the phases more effective and efficient.

Analysis :-

  • This phase, comprised of two steps, involves the analysis of all the information and data collected in the Planning phase.
  • All the people closest to the process selected for benchmarking should be deeply involved in this phase.

Integration :-

  • This phase secures the commitment of the management on the recommended action plan. Because acceptance of proposed process revisions by the company is necessary for the success of the project, this phase is obviously important.

Action :-

  • This phase is where the improvement parts have been taken into consideration. Ultimate benefit to a company from benchmarking is judged by how well this particular phase has been caried out.

Through in this way we can make benchmarking and fulfill the customer requirement.

  • The Budget is 8-10 lakh and fond of Big Cars.
  • Based on these underpinning factors the suggestion would be a choice of SUV Vehicle and
Considering the long run of the vehicle the viable option would be Diesel variant but nowday Environment is more important Factor than the what we used so i would like to recommend to take petrol or CNG varient and it give a little less milage than the diesel varient and Maintenance cost almost same .
  • In a crowded city like Bengaluru Automatic Gear transmission would be best suited but due to budget constraints and fuel efficiency Manual Transmission is preferred.
  • Based on the perfomance , fuel economy and efficiency i would like to suggest these 4 vehicle.
