Transmission Belt:
Transmission Belt is loop of flexible material used to transmit power by the means of pulleys. Belts transmit power efficiently through the pulleys. They are one of the cheapest means used for the power transmission. Their other advantages are that noiseless working, shock absorption during working, no lubrication, minimal maintenance, high tolerance for misalignment,
There are various types of transmission belts available namely:
V belts and Flat belts are most common used types transmission belts. V belts solved the problems of slippage and misalignment.
Power transmitted::P=(T1-T2)v:P=(T1−T2)v
Where tensions on the tight side and slack side, where .T1T2=eµα These two equations are the basis of belt designing. is the co-efficient of friction between the belt and pulleys, α is the angle (in radians) subtended by contact surface at the centre of the pulley.
Selection criteria
Belt drives are built under the following required conditions: speeds of and power transmitted between drive and driven unit; suitable distance between shafts; and appropriate operating conditions. The equation for power is
power [kW] = (torque [N·m]) × (rotational speed [rev/min]) × (2π radians) / (60 s × 1000 W). friction and tension play an important role in deciding the life of the belt. Belt drives depend on friction to operate, but excessive friction wastes energy and rapidly wears the belt. Factors that affect belt friction include belt tension, contact angle, and the materials used to make the belt and pulleys. Power transmission is a function of belt tension. However, also increasing with tension is stress (load) on the belt and bearings. The ideal belt is that of the lowest tension that does not slip in high loads. Belt tensions should also be adjusted to belt type, size, speed, and pulley diameters. Belt tension is determined by measuring the force to deflect the belt a given distance per inch of pulley. Timing belts need only adequate tension to keep the belt in contact with the pulley.
Front and Rear Fender
Fender is part of automobiles that frames the wheel. The fenders function is to contain the various material such as stones, mud, liquids on the roads which otherwise would have sprayed it self on to the inside of the car or the pedestrian behind the car.
Front fender is the fender used for the front wheel and rear fender is the fender used for the rear wheel. The fender is also known as mudguard.
Kickstand:
Kickstand is device used to keep the bike in upright position. It is basically a metal piece that flips downward to touch the ground and provide support.
There are two types:
Side kickstand:
A side stand style kickstand is a single leg that simply flips out to one side, usually the left side, and the bike then leans against it. Side stands can be mounted to the chain stays right behind the bottom bracket or to a chain and seat stay near the rear hub. Side stands mounted right behind the bottom bracket can be bolted on, either clamping the chain stays, or to the bracket between them, or welded into place as an integral part of the frame.
Centre kickstand:
A center stand kickstand is a pair of legs or a bracket that flips straight down and lifts the rear wheel off the ground when in use. Center stands can be mounted to the chain stays right behind the bottom bracket or to the rear dropouts. Many motorcycles feature center stands in addition to side stands. The center stand is advantageous because it takes most of the motorcycle\'s weight off its tires for long-term parking, and it allows the user to perform maintenance such as chain adjustments without the need for an external stand. Center stands are found on most \"standard\" and \"touring\" motorcycles, but are omitted on most high-performance sportbikes to save weight and increase ground clearance.
