Gain Hands-on Automotive Industry Experience

The Introduction to Advanced Driver Assistance online course covers all aspects of model-based development (MBD), and Embedded Software Development technology implemented using MATLAB, multi-paradigm programming, and a numeric computing environment. MBD finds its application across all automotive software development systems, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). ADAS is an electronic technology that assists drivers in making driving easier.

High Demand Job Oriented Courses after Mechanical Engineering

CFD Engineering

Computational Fluid Dynamics is an evergreen field that can help you find employment in domains from Electrical Vehicles to rocket design. Students who want to start their career in CFD can expect an average salary of b93,00,000 with the pay package increasing with the number of software tools that a student has experience in and the number of projects that they have worked on.

To start your career in CFD you should have a working knowledge of GUIs like Solidworks, StarCCM+, Ansys Fluent, etc. To start your career in this field you should have a solid understanding of preprocessing (where you mesh the geometry using software like Hypermesh, ANSA), solving (the process of solving underlying equations), and postprocessing ( where you are required to analyze and visualize data using software like GT Power or CONVERGE CFD) in addition to a strong grasp of fundamental theory involved like fluid mechanics and heat transfer.

Understanding the mathematical concepts behind CFD will help you use any of the software tools used in the industry, helping you build your career in the CFD domain; including aerodynamics, HVAC, IC Engines, and turbomachinery.

Some of the job roles that you apply for as a CFD engineer include,

  • CFD model builder
  • Powertrain simulation engineer
  • CFD applications engineer
  • CFD verification engineer
  • CFD developer

Skill-Lync’s PG Program in CFD has been designed to be a job-oriented course for mechanical engineering students by placing special emphasis on industry-relevant projects. These projects simulate problems being solved in the industry and give students real industry insights into how these GUIs function.

Upon completion of our program, you will be able to find employment in firms like - Mahindra, TATA, FCA, BP, GE, Exxon Mobil, Boeing,  Honeywell, TCS, Quest, CTS, and others.

Design Engineering

Every machine, device, or piece of equipment from the international space station to the device you are reading this article on all started as a design on a mood board. A domain that marries the art and math, engineers who start their career in this field have an understanding of the aesthetic of engineering while also being proficient in calculus.

To start your career in design engineering you should have experience in completing projects in the areas of solid modeling, surface modeling, sheet metal modeling, plastic modeling, and GD&T.

Most, if not all, design processes have the following structure,

‘Ideation - product design - manufacture design - plastic mold design.’

Which includes, solid modeling, surface modeling, plastic modeling, BIW component design, wiring harness, panel design, automotive class A surfacing, and GD&T

If you understand the fundamentals behind the math and physics of design engineering you will be able to start your career in any portion of the engineering design flow mentioned above. It is imperative that you have experience in software tools like NX CAD and Catia V5 to help start your career in the design engineering domain.

The job market for design engineers is filled with mechanical engineers who have a few months of experience in free software tools like autoCAD or creo creating a situation where hiring managers will not be able to separate between candidates. To ensure that your portfolio stands out against the competition you will need to work on at least 10 industry related projects. This is the methodology followed in Skill-Lync’s job oriented design engineering course. While you are working on our career related courses we will help you connect with hiring managers on LinkedIn, helping you build a professional network that will ensure that you get interview opportunities.

CAE engineering / FEA

high demand job oriented courses mechanical engineering

If you are interested in physics, math, and any structural analysis (how heat produces stress in a component, how vibrations produce stress in a component, how dynamic forces produce stress in a component) then the domain that you are interested in should be structural analysis or Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In FEA engineering, engineers break down larger components like a door or a fender into smaller components, like a triangle, in a process called meshing. Meshing is essentially the process of breaking down using a preprocessor like ANSA or hypermesh. This step is followed by running the extracted data through a solver that solves the problem by applying equations like the Navier-Stokes equation. Once the answer has been derived by running the data through a solver like Nastran, LS-Dyna, ANSYS and visually presenting the results.

Career specialization for FEA engineers

  • CAE modeler
  • CAE analyst (solver)
  • CAE analyst (automation)

Skill-Lync’s job oriented courses in FEA will give you experience in industry-relevant projects like,

  • Meshing a complex plastic component (side door)
  • Sheet metal meshing (rear trunk extra wheel holder)
  • Meshing a full seat
  • Frontal, side, roof crush
  • Head impact on car
  • Macros for automation
  • Material modeling
