Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge
Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge
Aim:
To solve the assignment questions and define all the necessary electrical properties in the respective workbench.
Objective:
1. Download the following cad data & define it as Electrical support using Electrical Part Design Workbench. Define all the necessary properties.
2. Download the following Back shell cad data & define it as an Electrical back shell using Electrical Part Design Workbench. Define all the necessary properties.
3. Create the Following Corrugated tubes & Add them to the Catalogue under the “Slit COT” family.
Design Methodology:
1. P-Clamp:
Step-1:
- First, download the P-Clamp IGS file and open it using the CATIA V5 software.

Step-2:
- Now we have to define geometry parameters.
- To define geometry parameters, we must navigate to the part workbench.
- We need to create planes at the entry and centre points.
- We need to create planes at the exit and centre points.
- we need to create a base plane taken from the surface
- base plane offset is 2mm.

Step-3:
- Switch to Electric part design in order to define the P-Clamp as Electrical Support.
Support 1:
- Now using the Define support part option we can define the P-Clamp Entry and Entry point.
Support 2:
- Now again using the Define support part option we can define the P-Clamp Exit and Exit point.

Furr_Clip_20mm:
Step-1:
- First, download the Furr_Clamp IGS file and open it using the CATIA V5 software.

Step-2:
- Now we have to define geometry parameters.
- In order to define geometry parameters, we must navigate to the part workbench.
- We need to create two lines on the given point.
- We need to create planes at the entry and point.
- We need to create planes at the exit and points.
- we need to create a base plane taken from the surface
- base plane offset is 0mm.

Step-3:
- Switch to Electric part design in order to define the Furr Clamp as Electrical Support.
Support 1:
- Now using the Define support part option we can define the Furr Clamp Entry and Entry point.

Support 2:
- Now again using the Define support part option we can define the furr-Clamp Exit and Exit point

Sticky Clamp:
Step-1:
- First, download the StickClamp IGS file and open it using the CATIA V5 software.

Step-2:
- Now we have to define geometry parameters.
- In order to define geometry parameters, we must navigate to the part workbench.
- We need to create two lines on the given points.
- We need to create planes at the entry and centre points.
- We need to create planes at the exit and centre points.
- we need to create a base plane taken from the surface
- base plane offset is 0mm.

Step-3:
- Switch to Electric part design in order to define the Sticky Clamp as Electrical Support.
Support 1:
- Now using the Define support part option we can define the Sticky Clamp Entry and Entry point.

Support 2:
- Now using the Define support part option we can define the Sticky Clamp Exit and Exit point.

2. Backshell:
Step-1:
- First, download the backshell IGS file and open it using the CATIA V5 software.

Step-2:
Bundle Entry Point:

COT Tubes Creation:
Process:
- First, we create a new part.
- Switch to Electrical Part Design.
- Select the define protection part.
- Click on part ( on the file name in specification tree)
- Provide given parameters and bend radius as '1.5*Outer Dia'

COT_10mm:

COT_5mm:

COT_Tube_Catalog:
- First, we create a new part in the Catalog document.
- We add family rename as Slit COT and select the type as Conduit then the save file.
- Open part to add Catalog.
- Select the store device command and select Catalog and select family as Slit _COT then click on ok.
