Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge
AIM:
1) To define as Electrical support of the assign CAD model using Electrical part design in CATIA.
2) To define the Electrical backshell of the given CAD model using Electrical part design in CATIA.
3) To create the Corrugated tubes in under the Catatlogue Family of "slit COT" as different dimensions.
INTRODUCTION:
1) This another important component of the wiring harness which should be defined before wiring harness routing. The important parameters.
Entry point & plane
Base plane
Exit plane
2) Backshell are plastic molded parts used at wire entry side of connectors either for protection or to improve Aesthetics/Appearance of harness.
3) Corrugated tube, Convolutes, Sleeves and many other types of converings are used to protect the wiring harness.
PROCESS:
1) Download following cad data & define it as Electrical support using Electrical Part design Workbench. Define all the necessary properties.
Create the two points and three planes in the geometry parameters.

Switch the Part design to Electrical part design Click on support definition - select part - select entry point - select entry plane, exit and base plane.
And same process click on support definition -select part-select exit point - select exit plane and base plane ass secondary plane is automatically taken.
Finally
2) Download following Back shell cad data & define it as Electrical back shell using Electrical Part design Workbench. Define all the necessary properties.
PROCESS:
Download the back shell 3D part to process with geometry system.
Define the geometry parameters such as the point and Axis system.
Then define the Back shell in the Electrical part design.
And the process of the define the Backshell connection point and Define Bundle connection point.

Finally Back shell is fully ready.

3) Create Following Corrugated tubes & Add them in Catalogue under “Slit COT” family.
Corrugated tube, Convolutes, Sleeves and many other types of converings are used to protect the wiring harness.
| NAME | ID(mm) | OD(mm) | Thickness(mm) |
| 15mm COT | 12 | 15 | 1.5 |
| 20mm COT | 17 | 20 | 1.5 |
| 35mm COT | 32 | 35 | 1.5 |
| 10mm COT | 7 | 10 | 1.5 |
| 5mm COT | 3 | 5 | 1 |
PROCESS:
Switch to Electrical part design
Select Define protection part
Click on part (on file name in specification tree)
Provide given parameters and bend radius as "1.5 x Outer Diameter"
CATALOGUE CREATION:
Create the catalogue name of "Slit COT" and Family is "conduit" and save the file.
Create the part process= new part - catalogue document - add family - give name - type - select conduit - save.
Open part to add catalogue - store device command - select catalogue - family - Slit COT - OK.
