Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge

Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling.

AIM:

Route the following harness layout in Electrical workbench. Make assumption for harness bundle diameters. Use Following connectors as shown in layout diagram.

Add protective covering on all branches connected to DT06-2S & DT06-4S connectors. Keep end extremity at 30mm (from connectors end)

  • DT06-4S
  • DT06-6S
  • DT06-2S
  • DT06-08SA

Given Layout.

Methodology for define the Connector.

  1. First imported models from given link. open mechanical part design.
  2. Defined the middle point with help of the mid point. On the connector side and bundle side.
  3. Given axis system to connector side.
  4. Now changing the workbench electrical part design.
  5. Defined as a connector with 2 terminations.
  6. Then Defined the connector side as the connector connection point.
  7. Defined bundle connection side as a bundle connection point.

Connector DT06-2S.

Connector DT06-4S.

Connector DT06-6S.

Connector DT06-8SA.

Product

  1. Open a new product file and imported all the defined models into it.
  2. Also import the created wiring harness layout CATpart to position the connectors.
  3. Manipulated all the models into the required positions.
  4. Rotated all the connectors as required.
  5. Made the main branch Bundle to bundle.
  6. Create a Branch point for required distance by Add brand point command.
  7. Then create the sub branches according to the given Layout.
  8. Finally, Add COT Tubes to the bundle by importing it from the catalogue.

Positioned the Connectors as per in Layout.

Created the Circuit branches to the connectors with the help of Multi branchable command.

Covered the branches with the help of Corrugated tubes to prevent it from damages.
