Week 9 - Project - Master Section Development
REPORT ON DESIGNING THE COMPLET B PILLER PART WITH CLOSED BODY AND B SIDE FEATURES

B PILLER WITH FEATURES
DESIGNING PROCEDURE

It is the given Class A-Surface
firstly tooling axis is prepared for thid class A-Surface.
we are provided with the MASTER SECTIONS to design this part.

By taking the master sections as reference the TOOLING AXIS is created.

The yellow Axis shown above is the tooling axis.
After the tooling axis the draft analysis is made on the given class A-Surface.
It is to ensure that the given class A-Surface is made with design standards.

The green colour indicates the given surface is designed with more than 3deg so it is goood.
Except the two blue surfaces as shown in the figure tells that it has 0.5deg which is minimum draft used in automotive industry so it is ok.
There is one red pach in right corner which is problem, But its just a practice we can proceed further.
Now the B-Surface is created
By the given Masrter section it shows that the thickness of the component is 2mm.

so the B SURFACE is created at 2mm distance from A SURFACE.
Now in the MASTER SECTION there are flanges to the component.
so the flanges are made with reference to the MASTER SECTION.

So now A and B SURFACES are done, Now the C SURFACE is created.

In this the edges of the A SURFACE are extruded and then trimmed with the B SURFACE.
A closed surface is prepared in the part body form this CLASS C SURFACE.

Complete solid body.
B side Features
DOG HOUSE

4 WAY LOCATOR

After the creation of DOG HOUSE and LOCATER with the use of given MASTER SECTION the tow bodies are mirrored using a plane.

RIBS

splitting the RIBS with an offseted B-surface at 10mm.

giving draft to the ribs 0.5deg with tooling axis.

the same process is followed for other side.

Draft analysis

the green colour on the surface shows the surface is at an angle more than 3deg.
and the blue surfaces shows 0.5deg which is minimal for the B side features.
so for the two screw bosses other LIFTER AXIS is made to clear them.

CONCLUSION
The component is designed and is ready to manufacture.
