OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this project is to Design a 3D model of an Sheet Metal part with odd shapes using Siemens NX Sheetmetal Application
INTRODUCTION
Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly, extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered Plate steel or Structural steel.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY

DESCRIPTION
FEATURES USED
SKETCH - LINE, RECTANGLE, CIRCLE, STUDIO SPLINE, POINT
Sketch is a 2D drawing used to create a 3D part. In the sketch there are many tools like Line, Rectangle, Circle, Point, etc.. required to create a complete drawing.
EXTRUDE
Creates a 3D solid from a 2D drawing that encloses an area.
SHEET METAL FROM SOLID
Sheet metal from solid is use to build a sheet metal model that takes its shape from a collection of planar faces.
FLANGE
sheet metal flange command use to add a flat flange at an angle to a planar face.
JOG
Jog is the command used to create a offset or a step in tab. It creats a jog by lifting the material on the one side of the jog line and adding a flange between the two sides.
UNBENDING
Unbending command is used to create a flat sheet metal piece of the whole part.
HOLE
hole command use to create a hole on one or more solid bodies in a part.
BEADS
Bead command is used to create an indentation in the sheet metal part using a sketched section as the bead out line.
REBENDING
Rebending command is used to bend the flat sheet metal part appered after the unbending process to get back into original shape.
FLAT PATTERN
Flat pattern feature is used to create a flat sheet metal piece of the 3D modeled part, so that it can assure that the 3D sheet metal part to be created can be Manufactured.
DRAFTING
It is the 2D drawing of the flat pattern with the complete detailes of the Features applied on the sheet metal to make a 3D part.
STEP BY STEP PROCESS
First the sketch is prepared by drawing a Trapezium in XY plane as shown in figure below.

Then the above sketch is extruded up to 200mm.

Now a Sheet metal box of above solid is created by using the feature called Sheetmetal from solid.

Now at one side a flange is created of length 20mm.

A JOG is created on another side of the sheet matal part.
