Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2
AIM: CREATE THE DOGHOUSE ON COIN HOLDER.
Create the Dog House for the Door Trim considering the design rules.
"C" is where the doghouse contacts the backside of the surface
-
Doghouse wall thickness at the intersection of the part wall ( C ) should be 40% or less than the main wall stock ( T ).
-
The height of ( B ) should be between 3.0 – 6.0 mm.

CREATING TOOLING AXIS:
.Create a point at the center of the base by using Point Definition by extracting the surface and selecting the surface.
.Create an Axis system at the point that is created at the surface using Axis System Definition by selecting the point.
.Now create an intersection in the ZY plane by Intersection Definition for the Center Console Coin Holder.

CREATING B SURFACE:
9.Now create the Plastic design for the given Class A surface of the Center Console Coin Holder by creating the Class B and C surfaces.

CREATING C SURFACE:
.Create the class C surface for class A surface by using the Multi extract option by selecting the boundaries.Create a smooth curve for the extracted boundary.Select the extracted boundary.
.Extract the outer boundary walls and Replace the Multi extract boundary with the Smooth curve.
Now using the Sweep option create the C surface by selecting the Subtype as - with reference surface and Guide curve as - Boundary which is extracted and Reference surface as - Extracted boundary surface and Angle of 90

DOGHOUSE DESIGN
Dog house: Dog house is an engineering feature used in the plastic trim design. Dog
houses are used as supporting features. Sometimes other engineering features like
snaps; locators, etc. are mounded on them to increase their strength. Dog house and
other engineering Features are built on B-surface.
Design rules for Dog house creation

Dog house design procedure by considering the design rules:
Extract the surface on which we want to create the dog house and create a sketch on a
plane
STEAPS =
Dog house Sketch
Now we have closed the upper surface of the dog house by extruding and trimming
features.
Now we have closed the upper surface of the dog house by extruding and trimming
features.

2mm thickness has given to the surface by using a thick surface feature
