Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 1
AIM:
Create the rib for the Centre console coin holder and consider the design rules as mentioned.
OBJECTIVE:
- Create a Rib for the center Console Coin holder.
- Perform draft analysis.
RULES FOR RIB DESIGN:
RIB DESIGN:
- Ribs and gussets are features that generally are added to the primary wall of a plastic part for structural purposes.
- Help the part resist deflection under load.

- Proper Rib design involves five main issues: Thickness, Height, Location, Quantity, and Mouldability.
- Consider these issues carefully when designing ribs.
DESIGN CONSIDERATION FOR MORE RIBS:
- Taller ribs are prone to buckling under load.
- The height of the rib should be limited to less than 3 x thickness.
- It is better to have multiple ribs to increase the bending stiffness than one high rib.

PROCEDURE:
Sketch for the length of Rib on Centre console coin holder.

extrude the line for the height for 5*T (5*2.5=12.5mm)

The thickness of the Rib should be 0.4*T of the component (0.4*2.5=1mm)

Giving Draft to the Ribs four sides of 0.5Deg from the base and select the pulling direction as tooling axis.

Assembly the Rib part body to the main part body and give edge fillet to all faces for 0.25mm.

Creating More ribs:
Height/width=3:1
12.5/width=3
width=12.5/3=4.1
width = 4.1:(width should be >3)
here we can take 6mm for the width

Repeat step for creating one rib to create multiple ribs.

Insert a Reference plane in XY direction for creating an intersection between part body.

Creating the tritangent circle by selecting the extracted curve and line.

By using measuring tool checking for proper measurements according to the design rule.

Procedure for draft analysis:
- After creating the solid body we will perform the draft analysis of the whole part body.
- First, change the parameter to material mode and then go to perform draft analysis Go to Insert > analysis > feature draft analysis.
- Click on the compass icon & align with the tooling axis.
