Study of Different Morphing Techniques using ANSA Workbench
Basic Study of the Different Morphing Technique using ANSA Morphing Deck
Aim:To understand the basics of different Morphing techniques and its used in various industries.
Procedure:
1)import .IGS File into the ANSA Workbench.
2)Geometry Cleanup and Topology
3)Perform Various Morphing techniques on the given Component.
4)Split Morphing Boxes
ABSTRACT:
Morphing is a geometric interpolation technique that is often used by the animation industry to transform one form into another seemingly seamlessly. It does this by producing a large number of ‘intermediate’ forms between the two ‘extreme’ or ‘parent’ forms.
Above figure shows the Example of Morphing of the Product design of Honda Civic Car
Procedure:
1)Import .IGS File into the ANSA Workbench.
- Import the .IGS into the ANSA and Set the proper orientation and change the perimeter length to 1(MESH>PERINETER>LENGTH).
2)Geometry Cleanup and Topology
- Check all the geometry errors in the checks manager(Checks>Geometry>Execute) as shown in Fig 2.1
- Eliminate All the Triple Cons and Cracks between 2 Surafces by releasing thr triple cons and applying topo as shown in Fig 2.2
Fig 2.1 Geometrical Errors
Fig 2.2 Geometrical Cleanedup
3)Perform Various Morphing techniques on the given Component.
- Go to Morphing Module
- Create a Morphing Box(Morphing>New>Ortho>Geometry) where we need to perform Morphing.Exmaple shown in fig 3.1
fig 3.1 Creating Morphing Box
- Morphing Box is created represented in green box as shown in figure 3.2
fig 3.2 Morphing Box
- Now we can Change the Shape and Dimension of the feature lies within the Morphing Box
- Go to Morphing>Move ,Control Points Movement tab will open.Select the Coordinate to move and also the axis in which direction morphing should perform as shown in fig 3.3
fig 3.3 Control points Movement
- On Confirmation the Morphing Box will start Moving in the direction you have mentioned and On Centre click the morphing Operation has been performed as shown in fig 3.4
fig 3.4 Morphing
Let us See One more example of Morphing.
Step1)
Step 2)
Step 3)
Step 4)
4)Split Morphing Boxes
- Create the Morphing Box as shown in fig 4.1
fig 4.1
- Activate the BOXES>SPLIT function. Select with the right mouse button (right button implies the selection of an existing Point and not the creation of a new one).
- ANSA splits the Morphing Box in two. Zooming in close you can see the thick lines implying tangency condition in this direction. fig 4.2
fig 4.2
- Activate Box Morphing>Move Command to perform morphing operation. and is shown in fig 4.3
fig 4.3 Morphing
Once the Morphing is performed then Delete the Morphing Box (Morphing Mode>Boxes>Delete) and select the Boxes as shown in Figure below.
On Centre mouse Click all the Morphing boxes will be deleted as shown below.
Thus the Morphing has been performed in th given Model.
Learning Outcomes:
1)Understanding the ANSA GUI
2)Interpolation of Product design in the Industry
3)Creating Morphing Boxes.
4)Move the Morphing Coordinates in order to get required shape.
Conclusion:
Thus the Basic Morphing operation have been studied and performed some operration in the Given Component.
