Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

AIM : To check whether an EV can travel for 45km with 500kg cargo mass in an FTP cycle.
GIVEN :
- ADVISOR tool.
- EV_defaluts_in file.
- Cargo mass = 500 kg.
- Distance to be travelled 45 km.
- All others defalut conditions.
THEORY :
1- Selecting EV_defaluts_in file from drop down menu.
2 - Changing Cargo mass to 500kg.
3- Selecting FTP cycle from drop down menu.
OBSERVATION :
1- For 1 FTP cycle.
The distance travelled is 17.8 km.
The SOC is now 60%.
2- For 2 FTP cycles.
The distance travelled is 35.5 km.
The SOC is now 20%.
3- For 3 FTP cycles.
The distance travalled is 41.4 km.
The SOC is now 0%.
CONCLUSION :

When the simulation is run for 3 FTP cycles, the total distance travelled by the vehicle is 41.4 km only.
So the vehicle couldnt travel 45km in 3 FTP cycles due to insufficient SOC (State of Charge).

AIM : To change the battery capacity and repeat the simulation for FTP cycle.
OBSERVATION :
Battery Capacity has been changed from 25 to 30 modules, i.e. 308V to 370V.
RESULTS - The total distance travelled before the SOC become 0% is 49.1km.
CONCLUSION :
When the battery capacity was changed to 370V, for the 3 FTP cycles the vehicle travelled for 49.1km.

AIM : To perform gradeability test with PRIUS Japan model.
GIVEN :
- ADVISOR tool.
- PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in.
- All others defalut conditions.
THEORY :
Selecting PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in from drop down menu.
Drivetrain full ev.
Selecting Gradeability test and changing speed to see the effect.
Drive cycle selected is UDDS repeated 5 times.
OBSERVATION :
Speed = 5 mph / 8 kmph.
Gradeability = 50.4%
Speed = 10 mph / kmph.
Gradeability = 50.4%
Speed = 20 mph / kmph.
Gradeability = 34.1%.
Speed = 30 mph / kmph.
Gradeability = 22.3%.
Speed = 40 mph / 64.4 kmph
Gradeability = 15.8%.
Speed = 80 mph / 128.7 kmph.
Gradeability = 3.1%.
