Q: For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

Consider the following considerations:
Load file: EV_defaults_in
Drivetrain Config: ev
Vehicle: VEH_SMCAR
Variable List: component-motor_controller; variables- mc_area_scale
Cargo mass: 500kg

After giving following parameters, press continue and change drive cycle to CYC_FTP

Press Run button to obtain drive cycle

Conculsion: For drive cycle 1 the distance travelled by the vehicle is 11 miles. For the given parameters the vehicle failed to travel 45km.

Q: In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation

Solution: By retaining the above parameters and changing battery capacity (#of mod) to 10 with drive cycle 1, the vehicle will cover a distance of 6.7 miles

By changing batter capacity (#of mod) to 50 and drive cycle to 2. The vehicle covers a distance of 14.9 miles

Conclusion: Therefore by increasing the battery cpacity and drive cycle, the distance covered by the vehicle also increasing.

Q: Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file. Compare your results in table and conclude.

Perform gradeablility test for a speed of 55mph. The gradeablility for 55mph is 1.7%

From this we can obtain gradeability table for different speed and duration

Conclusion: therefore as the speed increases the gradeability decreases.
