1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

ANS: The following test is performed in ADVISOR 2002 in matlab.

Let the cargo mass increased to 500kg with other default conditions. By observing the 1 cycle of FTP the kilometers travelled is 17.7kms. And the maximum range of the vehicle (500kg cargo) is 39.9kms( The condition is observed by performing the 2 FTP cycles). Hence the vehicle cannot travel for 45km with FTP cycle. The following results are shown below.

The above results shows you the Range of the EV (5ookg cargo) and the maximum distance obtained by FTP drive cycle is 39.9km...

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

ANS: By increasing battery capacity to 100kw, the range of the vehicle also 128.7 kms with FTP cycle. Hence the vehicle can travel more than 45kms. To obtain 45kms, we should use 2.6 FTP drive cycle. The following results are shown below.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

conclusion: As the speed increases, gradeabilty decreases.
