Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1) EV DEFAULTS FOR FTP DRIVE CYCLE

MODEL

  • The units used are km.
  • This is the First GUI interface.
  • The "EV_defaults_in" is loaded in the Load file menu.
  • The Cargo mass is setted as 500 kg.
  • The remaining parameters are same as the default values.

  • The next GUI interface.
  • Here the Drive cycle used is "FTP" .
  • Here the 4 "FTP" cycles are used.
  • The remaing parameters are default values.

OUTPUT

  • This is the final output of the Advisor model.
  • From the output we can identify that the fuel consumption and the Emoission is zero.
  • The vechicle cannt travel the distance of 45 km during the "FTP" cycle.
  • The maximum distance the vechicle can travel is 41.4 Km.

2) BY CHANGING THE BATTERY CAPACITY IN THE ABOVE SIMULATION

MODEL

  • This is the First GUI interface.
  • This simulation is same as the above one.
  • Here the capacity of the battery is changed from 25 to 48 V .
  • The remaining parameters are default values.

  • The next GUI interface.
  • Here the Drive cycle used is "FTP" .
  • Here the 10 "FTP" cycles are used.
  • The remaing parameters are default values.

RESULT

  • By comparing the simulation 1 & 2
    • FROM EXPERIMENT 1 FROM EXPERIMENT 2

      BATTERY CAPACITY

      25 V 48 V

      DISTANCE TRAVELLED

      41.4 km 75.7 km

3)GRADEABILITY TEST WITH PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_ IN FILE

MODEL

  • The units used are km.
  • This is the First GUI interface.
  • The "PRIUS_Jpn_defaults" is loaded in the Load file menu.
  • The default values are used.
  • The "PRIUS" consists of three modes.
    • All system enabled (Both Motor & Engine).
    • Engery storage disabled ( Only Engine).
    • Fuel converter disabled (Only Motor).

a) ALL SYSTEM ENABLED

CASE i) GRADEABILITY AT 10%

  • The all system enabled indicates that the both motor and the engine operated at the same time.
  • The gradeability is setted at 10 %.
  • The speed is 30 mph.
  • The duration period is setted as 20 seconds.
  • The 4 times the "UDDS" cycle is used .

  • This is the output for the above simulation.
  • The total distance travelled is 59.9 km.
  • The emissions of gases are also noted.
  • The gradeability at 48.3 km/hr is 10%.

CASE ii) GRADEABILITY AT 20 %

  • The all system enabled indicates that the both motor and the engine operated at the same time.
  • The gradeability is setted at 20 %.
  • The speed is 25 mph.
  • The duration period is setted as 20 seconds.
  • The 4 times the "UDDS" cycle is used .

  • This is the output for the above simulation.
  • The total distance travelled is 59.9 km.
  • The emissions of gases are also noted.
  • The gradeability at 40.2 km/hr is 20%.

b) ENERGY STORAGE DISABLED

CASE i) GRADEABILITY AT 10 %

  • The Energy storage disabled indicates that the motor is diabled and the engine alone is operated .

CASE ii) GRADEABILITY AT 20%

  • The Energy storage disabled indicates that the motor is diabled and the engine alone is operated .

  • The gradeability at 40.2 km/hr is 20%.

c)FUEL CONVERTER DISABLED

CASE i) GRADEABILITY AT 10%

  • The Fuel conveter disabled indicates that the motor alone is operated and the engine is diabled .

CASE ii) GRADEABIITY AT 20%

  • The Fuel conveter disabled indicates that the motor alone is operated and the engine is diabled.

RESULT

S.NO SPEED (MPH) GRADEABILITY (%) ALL SYSTEM ENABLED (km/h) ENERGY STORAGE DISABLED (km/h) FUEL CONVERTER DISABLED (km/h)
