Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool(Observation of EV_defaults_in file for traveling in FTP drive cycle, Observation of EV_defaults_in file for traveling in FTP drive cycle, Gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file)
CHALLENGE 3(ADVISOR TOOL)
1)Observation of EV_defaults_in file for traveling in FTP drive cycle.
Objective:
To verify whether the car of model EV_default_in travels a distance of 45 km with a pay load of 500 kg in FTP drive cycle.
Tool Used:
ADVISOR tool used in this case that gives us reliable result in a GUI platform.
Download this tool from online and extract the files in a drive on your system.
In matlab workspace environment add this advisor tool path of all the files in advisor folder from open menu.It seems to be,

Then write the command as "advisor" and press enter. This add all the library files of advisor tool into baseworkspace.
Basically this tool works on commands of script for every compiling actions.
A new GUI platform gets open.

Give unit as metric and start the tool.
Procedure:
At initial condition it get default open of PARALLEL_defaults_in file model parameters.
Now we have to change it to EV_default_in. The default values are already assigned for its parameters as per their standard testing values.
Without changing any parameters we have to change default cargo weight from 136 kg to 500kg.
Let other parameters are as default.

This is purely EV model. This is main page of this tool looks like.
All vehicle parameters like Powertrain control, accessory, wheel axle, transmission, motor, energy storage,front/rear/four wheel drive are given as input in this page.
Then press continue and move on to next page.
Here change the default drive cycle from UDDS to FTP cycle. The cycle gets reflected in left side.

All the details of this cycle is given left-down in a box.
If we want acceleration test and gradeability test means, click the check boxes and run.
Result:
We are getting the result of distance 17.8 Km for single drive cycle.

For 2 drive cycle we are getting distance of 35.5 Km.

For 3 drive cycle we are getting distance as 41.5 Km.

For 4 cycles we get distance as same as 41.4 as battery SOC drains fully as we are seeing in second plot of results.
Conclusion:
Thus from the results of 4 times of FTP cycles we conclude that the this vehicle doesnot travels 45 Km in single charge.
| Vehicle model | EV_defaults_in |
|
Drive cycle type |
FTP |
| Battery Max.power | 25 KW |
| No.of drive cycles | Distance(Km) |
| 1 | 17.8 |
| 2 | 35.5 |
| 3 | 41.4 |
| 4 | 41.4 |
2)Same above case with change in battery parameter.
Objective:
To change the battery capacity to make vehicle to travel 45 km in a single charge.
Procedure:
Come back to initial home page of the model.
Change the batter maximum power capacity 25KW to 30KW for same cargo weight 500 Kg.

Then run in FTP cycle of first cycle.
We are getting distance of 17.8 Km.

For 2 no.of cycle we get 35.5 Km.

For 3 no.of cycles we get 49.1 Km.So we exceed 45 Km in 3 no of cycles.

For 4 no. of cycles we get again 49.1Km as battery get fully drained.

Conclusion:
Thus we can use the vehicle for 45 Km in single charge of 30 KW battery maximum power capacity.
| Vehicle model | EV_defaults_in | |
| Drive cycle type | FTP | |
| Battery Max.power | 30 KW | |
| No.of drive cycles | Distance(Km) | |
| 1 | 17.8 | |
| 2 | 35.5 | |
| 3 | 49.1 | |
| 4 | 49.1 | |
3)Gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Objective:
To test the gradeability with different speed at elevations.
Conditions:
Model:PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in
Drive cycle:UDDS

Procedure:
Here in this case the gradeability from 50 Kmph to 100Kmph are taken as consideration.
We have to change the speed in grade option of gradeability test.
Here i taken 50 kmph to 100 kmph. By changing the speed we have to get the gradeability % for each velocity.

Then click ok and run the model.
Conclusion:
We are getting gradiability % varies from 50 kmph to 100Kmph.This can be shown in table below,
| Kmph | Mph | Gradeability(%) |
| 50 | 31.0752 | 2.5 |
| 55 | 34.18272 | 2.5 |
| 60 | 37.29024 | 2.5 |
| 65 | 40.39776 | 2.4 |
| 70 | 43.50528 | 2.2 |
| 75 | 46.6128 | 2.1 |
| 80 | 49.72032 | 2 |
| 85 | 52.82784 | 1.8 |
| 90 | 55.93536 | 1.7 |
| 95 | 59.04288 | 1.5 |
| 100 | 62.1504 | 1.4 |
From this we are came to know that the gradeability gets decreases as speed increases.(i.e) speed get increases as steep decreases.
Thankyou
