Week 14 challenge
Title:- Assembly of Butterfly Valve
Tools :- Solid works 2021 (Design software)
Instruction :- Assembly of Butterfly valve and applying GD&T symbol to the drawing sheet. (Because of Storage Space NX CAD is not Downloaded or used to complete this challenge, Solidworks is Sufficient to perform all relatable Activities needed for Task)
Parts :-
1. Valve
2. Shaft
3. Disc
4. Retainer
5. Nut
6. Handle
7. Screw for retainer and Valve (M12 x 25 (Socket head))
8. Screw for Disc and Shaft (M20 x 30 (Socket Head ))
9. Key for Shaft and handle (16 X12 x60)
All Parts Made from Stainless steel Excluding (Valve casing)
Procedure of assembly of Valve :-
Take ①Valve part as primary Base Part and Insert ②Shaft in it, Then By using ⑧Screw Fix ③Disc On it, After that Fix ④Retainer Part on top of shaft with ⑦screw which will lock shaft and Rotary action Is allowable, Place ⑥handle on top and Match ⑨Key Cut-out to insert key, to lock handle with shaft use ⑤nut and tight as per Requirement. Now assembly is Almost ready to use, This valve is use in industrial area to Block/ unblock Flow of fluid
Application of Butterfly Valves:
Butterfly valves are used to regulate or isolate the flow of fluids (like water, gas, oil, and chemicals) in pipelines. They are commonly found in applications such as:
- Water treatment plants
- Oil and gas industries
- Chemical processing
- HVAC systems
- Food and beverage manufacturing
- Fire protection systems
Types of Butterfly Valve Materials:
Body Materials:
1. Cast Iron: Common for water and low-pressure applications.
2. Stainless Steel: Used in corrosive environments and for handling chemicals.
3. PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): Suitable for low-pressure and low-temperature applications.
Disc Materials:
1.. Ductile Iron: Durable and commonly used for general purposes.
2. Stainless Steel: Resists corrosion and suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.
3. Aluminum Bronze: Ideal for marine applications due to corrosion resistance.
Seat Materials:
1. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): Good for water, steam, and some chemicals.
2. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene): Excellent chemical resistance, used in aggressive environments.
3. NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber): Used for oil, gas, and hydrocarbon applications.
