Challenge

Week 11 - Final project

AIM : Create a door trim component through the given Class-A surface. Create the Heat Stakes, locators and Dog house considering the design rules. And do the Draft analysis.

OBJECTIVES :

1.To check the boundries of Class A surface.

2. To create a tooling axis.

3. To perform draft analysis

4. To create class B and C surface using A and trimming it and make a close body.

5. To create B side features i.e Heat stakes, Locators and Dog house.

6. Perform Draft analysis on the Final components.

INTRODUCTION :

The door panel acts as a barrier between the car's interior and the door's internal mechanisms. The door panel is typically separated into four parts, such as an arm rest, map pocket, bottom substructure, and bottle holder. However, these parts have some of the most stringent criteria of all the car's interior components. This ought to be built to withstand the load whilst having a thickness of less than 2 mm and safeguarding the occupants from impacts. Currently, doors have an interior panel with a full width of electronic windows. speakers and a central locking system. Typically, these panels are covered with either fabrics or plastic.

SOLUTION :

CLASS A :

Checking the quality/continuity of Class A surface by using the boundry command.

ARM REST

A surface is having discontunity so improved it.

TOOLING AXIS:

To create the tooling axis, I extracted a surface from class A with no propagation and created a point in the middle of the surface by using the point command and created a line at that point using point - direction from Line command.

B SURFACE

To create B surface I have offsetted A surface with 2.5 mm.

C SURFACE :

Class A-Surface and Class B-Surface are connected by C-Surface. To create C surface I have extracted the boundr one by one and used swept command

FINAL TRIM

After finishing all the 3 surfaces join the Class A and Class C surface together using join command. Now the joined surfaces are then trimmed with the Class B surface to form a Closed surface.

HEAT STAKES, LOCATOR AND DOG HOUSE ON LOWER SUBSTRATE

WITH PUSHPIN

HEATSTAKE

Thickness of the heat stake is 1.5 mm which is taken from the master section provided. All the edges are filleted.

LOCATOR

DOG HOUSE :

Dog house is created according to the guidelines. 1.5 deg draft is provided from the outside and 0.5 deg draft is provided from the inside. Also all the edges are filleted.

SIDE CORE TOOLING AXIS :

Side core axis is created for the Dog house for the inside part of the Dog house. And then perform draft analysis on it.
