Underbody Coating

Underbody coating is very important and useful for protection of underbody components against long term corrosion and effects like stone chipping.

Stone chipping occurs during off road travel conditions where small stones chip the ordinary paint from the sheet metal parts which further leads to rust formation. The Coating acts as a sacrificial layer preventing the actual paint from being scrapped.

The material used is mostly a PVC based material which forms a 2-3mm thick coating on the underside of the Car.

There are various types of Coating like Rubber based which is mostly used for passenger cars , there are also polyurethane coatings , Wax and Asphalt based coatings with the latter being generally used for Commercial Vehicles.

The process Consist of Few Steps like Pre-treatement for cleaning the surface from dirt , dust oil or grease followed by the painting process which is repeated depending on the thickness of coating required
