Underbody Coating
Underbody Coating:
The underbody parts are constructed with different elements and panels in the lower area of the vehicle. The undercoating must be done to avoid corrosion from the underbody of the vehicle. The underbody coating is usually a thin layer, applied uniformly to the underbody parts as shown in the Figure below. It provides long-term protection from corrosion. It also provides protection to internal panels, frames, etc. The undercoating also makes the cleaning easier. Besides these, all the advantages, underbody coating provides some thermal isolation which makes the better travel in the summertime.
There are different types of undercoating, such as: Rubberized underbody coating, wax-based underbody coating, rust-oleum, polyurethane underbody coating, etc. This coating can be done by different methods, i.e., Spray, Electronic, Drip oil Spray, etc.

Advantages:
- Excellent resistance of rust and corrosion
- Reduces noise vibrations harshness from the system
- Good resistance of wear and tear, furthermore avoid scratching
- Provides thermal isolation in summer
- Easy cleaning
- Aids in value of a vehicle
Disadvantages:
- Less effective if the body already corroded
- Not impervious to damage
- Need to re-apply after few years for prolonged life
Conclusion:
Underbody coating is one of the important methods to avoid corrosion, wear & tear and improve the performance and better isolation to the system. Furthermore, it must be done in every fix of duration to prolong the life of the vehicle.
