Underbody Coating
Underbody Coating-
The most vulnerable part of any vehicle is its under body, because of its continuous exposure to the wear and tear caused by the mud, water, stones, potholes and other such obstacles present on the road. These wear and tear on the underbody of the vehicle cause rusting and leakage problems.
Further this rusting causes NVH problems and sometimes affects the fuctionality of various parts of the vehicle which in long run reduces the life of the vehicle. Here comes the role of underbody coating, this is nothing but a protective layer which acts like a shield for the underbody of vehicle against above mentioned road obstacles and improves the fitness of the vehicles body.

Types-
1.Rubberized undercoating- As the name suggests this type of coating dries to a soft rubbery finish which prevents body from rusting, chiping due to stones damage and moisture seep. This coating can be painted and removable with coating removal spray.
2.Polyurethane undercoating- In this coating a polyurethane based sealant is applied which comes ready to use. This coating works by seeping into the cracks and seams, displacing salt and moisture and spread around rusty areas to bond with and protect unoxydized metal. This coating can also be painted over.
3.Wax-based undercoating- Also known as Praffin based coating, this coating while application flows into cracks and seams to provide protective layer on the underbody. Even though this is quickest in application and cheapest but its life cycle short in comparision with other types that is why it is needed to reapplied once a year.
4.Asphalt based undercoating- This type of coating is for large trucks and heavey duty machinery. That is why it is more durable against rocks chips and moisture. But this takes more time to get applied and also not paintable.
Advantages-
1.Fights rust
2.Reduces NVH
3.Reinforcement
4.Prolong car's life
