Project 2
Objective: To Route the Wiring harness on Given car body and Prepare flatten view drawing in CATIA V5.
We have to design the wiring harness and route the same for the backdoor of a car. after that we have to flatten the wires All types of packaging rules are to be considered while routing the harness and industry based practices shall be demonstrated in harness design.
Rules that needed to be followed while designing wiring harness routing:
- Wiring harness should be routed in such a way that it is easy to assemble and access.
- It should be kept away from sharp corner and edges.
- Additional slack has to be provided wherever it is necessary according to the harness surroundings.
- Routing should be done where there is ample spaces for the wires to pass through. Small holes should be avoided.
- Additonal clips, clamps should be provided to prevent fouling of the harness.
- Minimum distance between clip and branch point should be of 25mm and it needs to be followed.
- Minimum distance between 2 branch points should be 50mm and it needs to be followed.
- Rubber gromets are to be used if wires are passing through sheet metal components
Steps that are needed to be followed:
Step 1:
Creating Backdoor Context Assembly

We have to download the provided backdoor .igs file and open in CATIA V5. Then rename the product file into Backdoor Contect Assembly.
Step 2:
Creating Backdoor Geometric Bundle:
We open a new product file under the Context file and name is Backdoor Geomteric Bundle. It is created so we can attach all the electrically defined components ithat are required for desining the hiring harness.

Step 3:
Adding 12- pole connector

Step 4:
Adding the required fir tree clips

Step 5:
Adding more required connectors

Step 6:
Routing the wiring Harness

Step 7:
Adding Protective Covering

Step 8:
Checking Bundle Continuity

Step 9:
Creating Flatten Product and flattening view
Fisrt we create an new product file and name it as Backdoor Wiring Harness Flattening. After that we change the workbench to Elceltric Harness Flattening and add the flatenning parameters. At the last we extract the geometric bundle from our main context file to create the flattening.

Conclusion:
Thus routing of thw wiring harness for the backdoor assembly has been completed.
