Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT
1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using a 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
ANS: To use the shortcut key in Revit to complete the following tasks: -
a. Using a 3D model create a section box - BX
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout – CS
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views - TL
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view - EOD
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view - VR
f. To select the previously selected items - CTRL+<
g. To add annotations to the model views - DI
h. To bring the model elements in line - AL
i. To rotate the model elements - RO
j. To move an object to another location - MV
k. To copy a model element - CO
l. To mirror an element about an axis - MM
m. To create an array of model elements – AR
2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood
AIM: To prepare a schedule for the following: -
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood
Tools Used: view tab, schedules, schedule properties
Procedure:
Step1: Open the architecture model created in a previous challenge.
Step2: Go to the View tab and click on schedule or quantities then select the category and then select fields which are to be there in the schedule.

Step3: After selecting fields click on ok then schedules will be created.

RESULT: Schedules are prepared for the given components.
Wall schedule

Window schedule

Door schedule

3) Using Revit Calculate the area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for the area and volume of each room.
AIM: To prepare the area and volume of each room using Revit and to prepare a schedule report for the area & volume of each room.
Tools Used: View, area, volume, schedule.
Procedure:
Step1: Open the previous architecture file.
Step2: Now create a schedule for the rooms created by clicking on schedule in the view tab.

Step3: Select the category to be created as schedule.

Step4: Now select the fields to be there in the schedule like area and volume then click ok then the room schedule will be created.

RESULT: Area and volume are calculated, and the schedule is created for each room in the architectural model.
4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available on the internet, prepare the total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Takeoff
AIM: To use the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available on the internet, prepare the total cost of materials used in the project.
Tools Used: View tab, material takeoff, schedule.
Procedure:
Step1: Go to the View tab and select material takeoff in the schedules in the architectural model.

Step2: Select the category to be created as schedule.

Step3: Now select the fields to be there in the schedule.

Step4: If needed create a calculated parameter to get the total cost by giving the formula.

RESULT: Hence by this material takeoff had been calculated and scheduled with cost and a separate material takeoff was also created.

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If the request for money from the client has been declined for the project
ANS:
a). Framing structure of building

b).

c).

6) List the parameters associated with each model element
a. Wall
b. Floor
c. Door
d. Window
e. Table
f. Building
AIM: To list the parameters associated with given model element
a. Wall – Length, Width, Height, Thickness, Cost, Material Used, Type Of Wall, Volume
b. Floor – Length, Width, Thickness, Cost, Type of Floor, Volume, Cost
c. Door – Length, Width, Thickness, Type of Door, Height of Lintel, Sill Height, Material
d. Window - Length, Width, Thickness, Type of Door, Height of Lintel, Sill Height, Material
e. Table – Length, Height, Width, Material, Purpose, Type.
f. Building – Type of Building, Length, Width, Height, Location, Loads Applied, Area, No of Floors
