Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT
AIM : Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT
PROCEDURE :
1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
ANS-
a. Using 3D model create a section box
SECTION BOX - BX
- open revit
- select any element - we have selected white car for section
- type BX

b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
- create similar ( CS)
- select any element and type CS
- we have selected a palm tree and type cs and create similar palm tree

c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
- using thick line (TL)
- Select element and type TL
- thickness of wall will change

d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
- viisibility graphics (VG)
- type VG
- slect floor you can edit it

e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
- use view range( VR)
- select element
- type VR and adjust the ranges

f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
- use reselect ( ctrl + left arow key)
- in my 2023 revit this command is not working
g. To add annotations to the model views
- use dimensions ( DI)
- type DI and use annotations

h. To bring the model elements in line
- use allign ( AL)
- type AL select the line to allign and then select other element tp align

i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
- use rotate ( RO)
- type RO > select object and give rotation

j. To move an object to another location
- use move ( MO)
- type MO > select object to move
k. To copy a model element
m. To create an array of model elements
- use copy (CO )
- Type CO > select object to copy
- copy the object
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
- use mirror ( MM)
- type MM > select object
- select axis fozr mirror

m. To create an array of model elements
- use array ( AR)
- type AR > select object to mirror > press enter
- give offset distance of array
- create array

2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood
ans-
wall schedule.
- open the revit and open the week7 project
- go to view tab > select schedule > select schedule and quantities
- select wall in table press ok

select schedule fields we want from available fields and press ok

door schedule.
- go to view tab > select schedule > select schedule and quantities
- select doors and press ok
- do the same procedure as we did in wall schedule

window schedule.
- go to view tab > select schedule > select schedule and quantities
- select windows and press ok
- do the same procedure as we did in wall schedule

floor material schedule.
-
- go to view tab > select schedule > select material takeoff

- select floor and press ok

- do the same procedure as we did in wall schedule

3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for area and volume of each room.
ANS-
- go to view tab > select schedule > select schedule and quantities
- select rooms and press ok
-select schedule fields we want from available fields and press ok

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off
ans-
- open the revit and open the week7 project
for wall material schedule:
- select the walls > go to edit type type cost
- go to view > select material takeoff > select walls
- add the schedule we want e.g cost
- for total cost > insert a dummy column > go to calculated in modify tab
- name as TOTAL COST
- type formula - ( matrial:volume /1 CF )*cost
- press ok

for doors
- follow the same procedure as above
- just select doors instead of walls

for windows.
- follow the same procedure as above
- just select windows instead of walls

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo ?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project
ans-
