Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT

1)

AIM:

To use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements

PROCEDURE:

Shortcut keys for all the above tasks are mentioned below

a. Using 3D model create a section box = BX
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout = CS
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views = TL
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view = EOD
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view = VR
f. To select the previously selected items = CTRL + <
g. To add annotations to the model views = DI
h. To bring the model elements in line = AL
i. To rotate the model elements = RO
j. To move an object to another location = MV
k. To copy a model element = CO
l. To mirror an element about an axis = MM
m. To create an array of model elements = AR

RESULT:

Shortcut keys for all the above listed commands has been listed above

2)

AIM:

To use Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood

PROCEDURE:

  • Open an architecture file thats created in project 2
  • Go to view tab and then select schedules and then schedules / quantities

  • A dialog box pops up and then select walls to create a wall schedule and click OK

  • Select the prameters that are needed to be included in our schedule like assembly descript, area, count, cost, type, structural material, length, width, volume and click on OK

  • Wall schedule with the desired parameters have been created

  • Now repeat the same process for all the schedules including doors, windows, material - concrete / wood
  • Go to view tab and then select schedules and then schedules / quantities

  • A dialog box pops up and then select door to create a door schedule and click OK

  • Select the prameters that are needed to be included in our schedule like height, sillheight, type, width and click on OK

  • Door schedule with the desired parameters have been created

  • Go to view tab and then select schedules and then schedules / quantities

  • A dialog box pops up and then select windows to create a window schedule and click OK

  • Select the prameters that are needed to be included in our schedule like count, headheight, width, height, description, assembly description and click on OK

  • Window schedule with the desired parameters have been created

  • Go to view tab and then select schedules and then schedules / quantities

  • A dialog box pops up and then select material to create a material takeoff schedule and click OK
  • Select the prameters that are needed to be included in our schedule like area, count, cost, material area, material unit weight, type, structural material, structural volume, length, volume and click on OK
  • Material takeoff schedule with the desired parameters have been created

RESULT:

Schedules for walls, doors, windows, material takeoff have been created

SCHEDULE FOR WINDOW :

SCHEDULE FOR DOOR :

SCHEDULE FOR MATERIAL TAKEOFF : CONCRETE / WOOOD

3)

AIM:

TO Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room using revit

PROCEDURE:

  • Open an architecture file thats created in project 2
  • Go to view tab and then select schedules and then schedules / quantities

  • A dialog box pops up and then select room to create a room schedule and click OK

  • Select the prameters that are needed to be included in our schedule like area, count, name, length, width, height and click on OK

  • Room schedule is created

RESULTS:

Room schedule has been created using the desired parameters and area and volume are also calculated of each room using revit.

4)

AIM:

To prepare total cost of materials used in the project using the same schedule whose unit cost rate for materials have been available in the internet

a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off

PROCEDURE:

  • Open the architecture file
  • Go to the project browser and select schedules and wall schedules

  • Now on the menu bar select the calculated option

  • A dialog box pops up and fill it with the appropriate details

  • A table with total cost values column is added

WALL SCHEDULE INCLUDING TOTAL COST OF MATERIAL :

DOOR SCHEDULE INCLUDIMG THE TOTAL COST OF MATERIAL COLUMN :

RESULTS:

Schedules including the total cost and material takepff have been added

5)

AIM:

Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, listing a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

PROCEDURE:

  • Flowcharts for:

a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo

b. If there is no water coming from the pipes

c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

RESULT:

Flowcharts for the above mentioned scenarios have been prepared.

6)

AIM:

To list the parameters associated with each model element
a. Wall
b. Floor
c. Door
d. Window
e. Table
f. Building

PROCEDURE:

Parameters associated with each of the model element that is mentioned below are:

Wall:- Type, Length, Width, Thickness, Height, Material, Cost, Area, Resistivity coefficient, Thermal Absorbtance

Floor:- Type, Length, Width, Thickness, Height, Material,Area, Cost, Resistivity coefficient, Thermal Absorbtance

Door:- Type, Length, Width, Thickness, Height, Material, Cost, Lintel height, Height of sill

Windows:- Type, Length, Width, Thickness, Height, Material, Area, Cost, Thermal Absorbtance, Lintel height, Height of sill

Table:- Type, Purpose, Height, width, Length, Cost

Building:- Type, Purpose, Number of floors, foundations type, Loads, Length, Width, Height, Material used, Location

RESULT:

All the parameters of each of the model element considered have been listed.
