Planetary Gear

AIM:- Design a Planetary Gear with the given specification and check the Motion Study.

OBJECTIVE:- A planetary gear is a gear with the input shaft and the output shaft aligned. The planetary gear is used to transfer the largest torque in the most compact form. With the number of teeth selected, now select an appropriate module or diametral pitch, depending on how strong you want the gears, and that is the planetary gear set designed. 

BODY:-

STEPS TAKEN TO DESIGN AND MOTION STUDY PLANETARY GEAR

1. We to design a 4 gear one is ring gear, sun gear and last planetary gear.
2. For Rotating this gear we need carrier so we have to design a carrier according to convenience
3. With the help of Solidworks toolbox, we configure the sun, ring and planetary gear
4. Then we have to make the carrier model its diameter depending upon ring gear.
5. Then assemble these gear without using the gear mates.
6. To assemble this we have to first draw the circle on the right plane.
7. Get the Ring concentric with the circle and also concentric with the carrier also.
8. Then fixed the ring gear and also mate with a carrier 
9. Then add the sun gear in the centre of a circle
10. Add the four planetary gear around the sun gear 
11. First, make mate 4 planetary gear with the carrier and also make carrier mate with sun gear. 
12. make mate very carefully because the wrong mate give some error
13. Then come to motion Study and first add motor with the centre of the carrier.
14. Then cone to contact make one contact between the sun gear and planetary gear.
15. Then click on a calculate 
16. And last plot a graph

CONCLUSION:-

Compact size and low weight – as much as 50% reduction with same torque output. High power density – several planets share the load rather than one gear, the more planets the more sharing. Longer gear life at similar loads. Gearing can be very accurate with virtually no backlash.
