MBD Simulation on a Piston Assembly

AIM:- Design a piston assembly and also check the motion study.

OBJECTIVE:- A Piston is a component of reciprocating engines reciprocating pumps, gas compressor and pneumatic cylinder moving among other similar mechanism. it is the moving component that is contained by a cylinder and is made gas tight by piston rings.\

BODY:-

STEPS TO TAKEN TO DESIGN AND MOTION STUDY

1. First we have to design the each part of the piston assembly i.e. CRANKSHAFT ,PISTON HEAD,PIN END CAP in a solidworks.
2. Also design  piston head 10 mm offset in and in neagtive.
3. Then we have to assemble the all of the 5 parts. specific way or with corrects mate.
4. For a assembly enable visible the axis for proper mate.
5. After the assembly we have to switch from animation to Motion analysis.
6. For motion analysis we should cross check that solid works Motion enable or not.
7. First we have set a motor at the axis of the  piston  motor with RPM 1200.
8. Then we use contact command set relation between two bodies
9. First we set contact relation between END CAP and PISTON HEAD.
10. Then we set a contact b/w. CRANKSHAFT and PISTON HEAD.
11. After that contact b/w. PIN and CRANKSHAFT  and in the end  b/w. PIN and PISTON CAP
12. At the last set FPS i.e. Frame Per Second  7200.
13. Click on a calculate so it run the motion very slow.
14. It takes a lots of time to calculate in my laptop it takes 5-6 hours to run .so first i set motor to 1200 rpm. with same FPS
15. Click on the plot the graph b/w. TIME and LINEAR DISPLACEMENT.
16. Graph comes very denser . and complicated
17. For the 10mm offset in POSITIVE and get proper graph i set the rpm 100 and 500FPS.
18. When we plot graph for this graph is very clear for both linear displacement and angular velocity.
19. For 10mm offset on NEGATIVE , set a motor to the  2000RPM a and with the same FPS.
20. when we plot the graph for this graph is more denser than previous one and more complicated.
21. This motion study taken 7 hours to run for me.

CONCLUSION:-

Its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod and/or connecting rod .
