Introduction to National Building Code and Steps in a Construction project
1)
*Set of standards that are unifrom and constant for all structures.
*It ensures the construction safety.
*It enhances modern construction method
*Provides building standards.
2)
AIM- To list the groups that will be essential to you when you begin modeling in Autodesk Revit from the National Building Code.
Group A Rsidential building
Group B educational building
Group C Assembly building
Group D Institutional building
Group E Mercantile Building
Group F Business building
Group G Storage building
Group H industrial buidling
Group J Hazardous building
3)
AIM- To list the five major steps that occur in project cycle.
Initiation
Planning
Execution
Closure
4)
AIM- To give examples of different disciplines involved in construction of a project.
*Construction
*Finance and estimation
*Contracts and bid
*Geotechnical
*Managements
*Structural
*Surveying
5)
AIM- TO clasify buildings under categories
a. Four unit apartments- Group A Rsidential building
b. School with capacity of 1000 students-Group B educational building
c. A single unit shop-Group E Mercantile Building
d. Multi story Shopping complex-Group E Mercantile Building
e. Steel machine factory-Group H industrial buidling
6)
Aim-To distinguish the roles of Design team and Management team
Design team
*HElps to finalise the plan
*Evaluationaries in the project
*Implementation the designs.
Management team
*Accomplishment of project
*Execute the design
*Achieves the satisfactory completion of the project.
7)
AIM- To identify modeling requirements of the project by refering NBC
a)Height limitations-
Hgt of the building is 7.5m which is less than 15m.hence it follows NBC Standards.
b)Area limitations
The area occupied by the building in my model is greater than 40sq.m.Floor area of my model is 45'x39'.
Hence it follows NBC.
c) Room sizing
No of rooms-3 nos total area is 110m2.
Which is greater than the value specified in the code.Hence the building is safe.
d)
Wall height
Hgt of the wall is 3m which greater than the minimum hgt as specified hence it is safe.
e)
Thckns of wall 7" which is greater than minimum wall thckns.
8)
The numbers are reasonable.
