Hood design-Week 2

Report On Hood Design:

Objective:

  • To Design Hood Outer Panel, Inner Panel and the necessary reinforcements by the Master Section mentioned with the Design parameters.

Design Considerations:

  • Hood Head Zone For Lock Striker.
  • Opening & Closing Angle of Latchen Striker.
  • Emboss.
  • Gap For Mastic Seal.
  • Hemming.
  • Clearance for Hem Glue.
  • Hem Reliefs.
  • Pedastrain Safety.
  • Outer Panel Thickness = 0.75mm.
  • Inner Panel Thickness = 0.75mm.
  • Reinforcement Thickness = 1.5mm.
  • Minimum draft angle should be 7°.

Design Methodology:

  • Develop the Inner Panel.

  • Position the hinge assembly and latchen striker.

  • Develop the outer panel.

  • Hemming.

Master Section:

Design Procedure:

Hood Inner Panel:

  • Extract the hood from the outer panel using Wave Geometry Linker.

  • Using Emboss command create the embosses.

  • Using the trim command create the cutouts.

  • Mirror the part using mirror geometry command to develop the Hood Inner Panel.

Latchen Striker And Hinge Assembly:

  • Activate the Hinge Assembly.
  • Using Assembly constraints position the hinge assembly.

  • Now mirror the hinge assembly using mirror geometry command.

  • Thicken the Hood Inner Panel of length 0.75mm towards outward.

  • Activate the Striker.
  • Using Assembly constraints position the striker.

Hood Outer Panel:

  • Activate the Hood Outer Panel.
  • Offset the surface upto a length of 2.6mm.
  • Offset the curve upto a distance of 7.7mm and trim it.
  • Give the face blend of length 6mm.
  • Provide releifs for hemmings and give the clearance of minimum 3mm.

  • Mirror the part to develop the hood outer panel.

  • Now thicken the hood outer panel of length 0.75mm.
