Hood design-Week 2
The objective is to design the inner and outer panel of a hood using the given mastersection and design parameters

Fig 1.Automotive Hood
The main parts of the Automotive hood are Outer panel,Inner panel,Hinge assembly and the Striker. We will be provided with the Hood Outer panel

Design Parameters
The main design parameters included are
- Design dimensions-The thickness of the sheetmetal part should be 0.75mm and the clearence for mastic data is 5mm,0.2mm clearence should be provided for Hemming process
- Opening angle-The opening angle of the Hood is to be taken care of while designing such that it should not hit the head of a person
- Pedestrian safety-The pedestrian safety can be ensured by providing of the proper cutouts in embosses which will reduce the piercing effect which causes less impact to the head
- Passenger safety-The force distribution in the innerpanel should be deviate into the hinge area by arranging the proper cutouts
- Joining Technique-The joining technique should be done by the Hemming process. The welding should not be done because it will affect the aesthetic appearence of the hood.
- Noice Cancellation:We are providing the Mastic data,so the noice can be cancelled. It is generally a hard rubber part, which is introduced as a paste in between inner and outer panel of the hood.It will expand can upto 5mm.
