Hood design-Week 2
AIM :- To Design and assemble the car hood.
INTRODUCTION :- The hood or bonnet is the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles. Hoods can open to allow access to the engine compartment, or trunk on rear-engine and some mid-engine vehicles) for maintenance and repair.

MASTER SKETCH :-

MATERIAL :- Car hoods are typically constructed from steel and sometimes from aluminum. Aftermarket car hoods may be constructed from various other materials, including carbon fiber, fiberglass, or dry carbon.
COMPONENT :-
STRIKER :- The striker is the part of an approved locking unit which is inserted in the frame. It helps to keep the Hood closed. When the dead bolt and the bolt is pushed into its hole, the Hood keeps closed.

GAS SPRING :- A gas spring is a type of spring that, unlike a typical mechanical spring that relies on elastic deformation, uses compressed gas contained within an enclosed cylinder sealed by a sliding piston to pneumatically store potential energy and withstand external force applied parallel to the direction of the piston shaft.

HINGES : - Hinges is the assembly of components connected to the door and body of the vehicle, linked to each other and capable of rotating around the same axis. ... Inside the hinge there is a circular pin that allows the hinge to swivel around pin axis.

DESIGNING OF HOOD :- It all started with the given styling surface to offset those surface and creating the innerpanel first and then create the outer panel as well.
Here are the steps
First I create the half side of the inner panel and create a emboss and using blend to create a smooth edges and also create a flat surface for the hinges and striker so that they easily bolt there and fit perfectly.

And then mirror it so we get the complete inner panel
Emboss Body now addresses cases where a solid tool body intersects the boundary of a sheet target body

Same process are with the outer panel and creating a hemming.
Hemming is the process in which the edge is rolled flush to itself, while a seam joins the edges of two materials. Hems are commonly used to reinforce an edge, hide burrs and rough edges, and improve appearance.

CONCLUSION :-
The Hood design has been successfully created, considering the design rules as mentioned in the given data.
