Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

Aim: To study the given model of the wheel arch design and conclude whether it adheres to the European Regulation for the design of the fender.

European Regulations:

The European regulation for the fender design are shown below:

According to the above regulations, the tyre should be at least 10mm inside the fender for the design to be accepted. Also, the points of contact where the clearance is checked have to be 30⁰ car forward and 50⁰ car backward as shown in the side view.

In the given model, the side view and the top view sketches were drawn as shown below:

In the top view sketch, the lines of the extremities of the fender and the tyre were projected and the distance at the corresponding points from the side view was analysed. The tyre is 15mm inside the fender as shown below:

Conclusion: Since the tyre is 15mm inside the fender, it follows the European Regulations for the fender design.
