Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

Title- Wheel arch

Objective- To calculate wheel arch and prove whether given model pass to the europion standard or not

Introduction

Wheel arch is a semicircular part above the tyre which helps to prevent debris coming into the engine compartment. Wheel arch also protects people inside the car and pedestrians.

The letter L represents the distance between tyre edge and wheel guard the minimum distance must be greater than or equal to 10mm

The value of a should be greater than 5 mm at SB-Sb and SC-Sc.

Procedure

To calculate the distance L i create a plane on the edge of a wheel

Then as shown in the fig. Draw all the lines at particular angle and distance

Then project the fender edge on the sketch

Create points at the intersection of arc and lines

Project that points and lines on the surface so we can measure the distance between tyre edge and wheel guard.

Sketch1

Distance At AA-Aa L=9.9491

Distance At BB-Bb L=10mm

Distance At CC-Cc L= 0.0977

Distance at DD-Dd L=-2.8809

Distance at EE-Ee L= -5.9965

Determining the value of wheel guard clearance

At BB-Bb a= 49.6439

At CC-Cc a= 43.4868

Wheel guard clearance a At BB-Bb

Wheel guard clearance a At CC-Cc

Fender wheel Arch area-24432.9334 mm^2

Results-

The value of L (The value of L should be more than 10 mm)

At BB-Bb is only satisfy the requirements other than that At point A,C,D,E not satisfy the requirement

Wheel guard clearance a (a should be more than 5mm)

The value of a should be more than 5mm and at point BB and CC it is more than 5 mm so it satisfies the requirement.

Fender wheel Arch area-24432.9334 mm^2

Conclusion- After analyzing the data we can conclude that the model don't fit the europion standards
