Challenge

Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_1_Casing Design

Title- Casing Design

Objective- Understand different sheet metal commands

Introduction-

Generally sheet metal design application gives the environment to design sheet metal components which are used in different industrial sectors such as Automotive, Aerospace etc . In sheet metal application we can create uniform thickness components by using basic commands such as Tab, flange etc. In this challenge i have learned different commands like Tab, Normal cutout, Flange, Hole, Bend, Unbend, Rebend, Dimple, Bead, Flat pattern etc.

Design Methodology- Flow chart

Description of tools used-

Tab- this is the base feature used to give thickness to the blank design

Normal cutout- this is the secondary feature used to remove not necessary part of the tab or blank

Bend- this is also secondary feature used to provide bends to the blank along the length side

Flange- this command used to give 90 degree flange to the end sides of the bend

Break corners- this command used to provide blend to the sharp edges

Unbend- by using unbend command remove all the bends and make the casing flat so that other necessary operations can carried out easily

Hole- By using hole command provide through holes to the blank

Studio spline- this is the design tool used to give dynamic slopes to the curve by selecting the points or poles

Move curve- By using move curve command we can rotate or translate the spline to particular angle or distance

Dimple- By using dimple command we can lift up or bring down different designed shapes in casing design we used dimple command at the center of the casing to provide feature

bead- by using this command we provide circular shaped bead to the casing

Flat pattern- this tool is used to create flat patterned sheat from formed sheat metal part
