INTRODUCTION

Wheel Arc:

Wheel arc means the circular part of the fender which is positioned above the front and back wheel. It is designed as a cover or a shield which is not pass any de-bris or stones, sand and some other things. BIW area as well as outside the vehicle and other vehicle on the road.

Wheel arc calculation must be important, because the need to fulfil the standards and regulation as followed in different countries. So, that the vehicle has to use in those countries.

European Regulation and requirements:

The European Regulation and requirements for wheel arc as some categories. Because if the vehicle must be passing those requirements otherwise, they not permit the vehicle to operate. The categories for European regulation as following below.

• In European regulation all section from the tire view from top must have 5mm clearance
• Then clearance of L (wheel guard requirements) which means, the distance between the wheel and wheel arc must have more than 5mm and 30^o forward and 50⁰ backward from the centre of vertical axis of the wheel

In this challenge we can see how to measure SA, SB, SC, SD and SE.

Wheel arc calculation:

The wheel face as provide and projected the arc section SA, SB, SC, SD, SE and SF as per the European standard for measure L, A and wheel arc.

Measuring Distance:

Measuring distance means to measure the distance like angle, horizontal, vertical and some other entities in the component or part. Go to menu-->Analysis-->Measure-->Measure Distance or click measure on analysis tab.

Measurement of L at SA:

After measure the L at SA the value is 9.8396mm

Measurement of L at SB:

After measure the L at SB the value is 10.0050mm.

Measurement of L at SC:

After measuring L at SC the value is 6.4970mm

Measurement of L at SD:

After measuring L at SD the value is -0.3911mm

Measurement of L at SE:

After measuring the L at SE the value is -3.0808mm

Measurement of L at SF:

After measuring L at SF the value is -8.5134mm.

Result Table:

In that result Table, the negative value shows fender are behind the tire plane. And, compare to SD remaining sections are show the arc not pass the European standards. So, the vehicle not permit to run.

Measuring face:

Measuring face means to measure the area or perimeter in the part or component by click measure face option or select menu-->Analysis--> Measure face.

Measurement of wheel Arc area:

After measuring the wheel arc area, the value is 418734.8022mm²

Measurement of wheel arc radius:

After measuring the wheel arc radius, the value is 395.6820mm.

In that calculation shows the given fender does not meet the European regulation and requirement standard.
