Fender Design Challenge
CHALLENGE 3- FENDER DESIGN
Aim of the project: To design a fender of a car using automotive sheet metal designing of NX CAD.
Introduction: A fender is the part of a car that protects and frames its wheels and keeps mud from splashing it. Most modern vehicles have fenders on their front wheels. Fender is used to protect the car from mud, sand, rocks, liquid etc.
There are two types of fenders:
Full Bumper type
Half Bumper type

DESIGN METHODOLOGY AND REQUIREMENTS:
Mountings required for designing fender:
- A Pillar Mounting
- Body Mounting
- Sill Mounting
- Bumper Mounting
- Drip Mounting
Design Methodology
Given Drip area master section

It is the area through which fender is attached to engine housing through fasteners. There should be some consideration followed to design the drip area of fender. From back side of front fender, there will be 200mm clearance for cowl(wiper motor) mounting area.
It is designed by adding the mountings to the given skin data by with the use of embosses.
Commands used:
- Emboss
- Law extension
- Trim sheet
- Edge Blend
- Face Blend
- Dart

Sill Mounting Area
Sill mount area is created by emboss and mounting holes

Bumper Mount area
This area is designed using law extension and performing emboss in the law extension and adding an extra support using dart operation.

A Pillar Mounting

Baffle Mounting

After performing all the mountings, the fender is thickened to 0.75mm inwards.
