Fender Design

AIM:- To create front fender with mounting points as per the master section provided and engineering standard.

OBJECTIVE:- Creation of fender of thickness 0.75 mm with respective to engineering standards and master section.

THEORY:-

Fender are aesthetic part of a vehicle which covers the wheel and body of the vehicle, its also helps in improvising the aerodynamics of the vehicle. Fender also provides protection to engine and other components of the body from water, mud, rocks and other debris. Fenders are mainly made of sheet metals and in some performance vehicle it is made out of carbon fibers and other non conventional light weight polymers. According to the length of the fenders it can classified into two types

1) Full Bumper type 2) Half Bumper typ

PROCEDURE:-

The construction of the front fender begins with the class A surface input.

The surface is extracted and along the boundaries of the surface mounting points are created with sketches and surfaces tools, and finally the finished surface is thickened for 0.75mm inwards to obtained the solid surface.

Construction and location of mountings

A fenderis mounted to the vehicle at the following places

  1. A pillar
  2. Sill
  3. Cowl
  4. Drip
  5. Body

in this particular fender there was no need for A pillar mounting

Sill mounting

cowl mounting

Drip Area

Those are the mounting area of the given fender

Apart from the mounting arrangement we need to create splash mounting for the fender as well

CONCLUSION :-

Thus the construction of the front fender is obtained with the thickness of 0.75 mm along with the mounting arrangements as per the design and master section.
