Fender Design
FENDER DESIGN
Objective:
To design the fender of a car with mounting area for the Sill, Bumper, Baffle(Splash), and A-Pillar mount create your own design according to the Engineering standard.
Introduction:
What is fender?
Fender is a plastic, metal, or rubber curved panel over the wheels on the side of a car, extending from the front bumper of the car to the door. The main purpose of fenders is to keep dirt, mud, and other debris off of the tires and braking system, making them safer and more efficient. Fenders also help prevent mud, dirt, dust particles, and other liquids from getting thrown in the air while the tires rotate. Fenders are attached to the frame of the car, and they come in different styles and sizes.

Types of fender:
There are two different types of fender used in car
1. Full bumper type

The full bumper type is the traditional type of fender where more material consumption is observed. This type is used in the old designs of automobiles where it increases the overall weight and thus reduces performance. The maintenance also relatively more due to more surface.
2. Half bumper type

Half bumper type is the modern design where less material consumption is observed, so productivity increases by reducing the size of the blank and thus providing more performance. The maintenance also relatively low compared to the full bumper type.
Design of the fender:
Fender is mounted basically on 5 important regions. They are
- Drip Area Mounting.
- A-Pillar Mounting.
- Sill Mounting.
- Bumper Mounting.
- Baffle Mounting.
Master Section:
The given Master section help to make this design.

1. Drip Area Mounting:

We make a drip mounting area in this design is connected with the engine compartment , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.
- The drip area should be designed in such a way that it should be at least 150mm away from the front end of the fender to have sufficient space for mounting headlamps housing.
- Mostly the drip area starts from 200mm away from the rear end of the fender, to have sufficient space for the cowl which carries the wiper equipment.
- We make the with 5 mm fastners used to join the fender with car body. In our design three fastners used in drip area for improve the strength.
- The length of the drip area depends on the length of the fender.
2. A-Pillar Mounting.

We make a A-piller mounting area in this design is connected with the A-piller of the car body , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.
3. Sill Mounting.

We make a Sill mounting area in this design is connected with the sill area at the bottom of the car body , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.
4. Bumper Mounting.

We make a Bumper area mounting area in this design is connected with the Front bumper of the car body , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.
5. Baffle Mounting.

We make a Baffle area mounting area in this design is connected with the wheel arch area of the car body , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.

conclusion:
The Fender is designed according to the given master section and CLASS A Surface as per the OEM Standards.
